@westwellwines Ortega Amphora 17
In the glass this Amber/Golden colour almost the colour I imagined Helen of Troy’s hair had me transfixed ... moving on 😁
On the nose Peach, Nectarines, pink grapefruit and a beautiful honeyed note woven though it all ... the palate has wonderful weight and body with hints of black tea leaf, fennel and dried thyme and that honey note coating you mouth
this wine is so elegant and complex as you drink you peel back more and more layers just like reading the Homers Odyssey
About this wine and the estate
Fermented in a traditional bespoke terracotta Amphora, believed to be the first of its kind in the UK, gives very different fermentation characteristics and hence flavours, to this white wine.
Our site is located just beneath the Pilgrims Way on the North Downs, a route used for centuries by Pilgrims travelling to Canterbury. Just over 9 acres is planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier – our sparkling wine varieties and 4 acres of Ortega - our still wine.
Beneath the sandy silt-loam soil layer, lies the chalk sub-layer, similar to that in Champagne. This provides both excellent deep drainage as well as gentle moisture to the vines even in the driest of summers. Our soils contain high proportions of flint, which help drainage and retain the heat, before radiating this back during the night.
There are six classified soil geologies on site and each variety and clone has been planted according to its best suited position. Chardonnay is situated on shallower chalky soils where flint proportions are highest as well as where it captures the evening sun best. The Pinots are on sandy/chalky soil. Our Ortega is planted in the sandiest, most sheltered spot to fully develop its fruity aromatic style.
Also guys just a heads up this is not an ad for @joshwinelist but if these are the wines we and you can expect from this wine adventure then please get involved as I can tell is going to be so much fun

마실때마다 만족감이 점점 더 높아지고 있는 생산자입니다. 이번에는 디켄팅도 하고 충분히 브리딩 하며 마셨습니다. 요새 엄청 핫한 생산자인데 그럴만한 이유가 있네요!
“Vincent Dancer has 5 hectares in Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet and Pommard vineyards. All of the wines are very limited with Dancer typically making between 1 and 5 barrels of each cuvée- only one barrel of the Chevalier!”

🇮🇹🍷 BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO🍷🇮🇹
2011 Caparzo Brunello
If you’re ever looking for what might be considered an entry level Brunello, then Caparzo might be it. With decent scores and a value price relative to most Brunello, the Caparzo can be a good choice for the budget minded. The 2012 Caparzo is just fantastic (in a great vintage), but I found this 2011 for under $40 and it was hard to pass up as a way to bridge the gap and enjoy a Brunello without dipping into my 2012 or 2013 hoard. Plus I needed something to go with my Akaushi NY Strip and grilled asparagus!
To be honest I was not thrilled with my first try of the 2011 (too austere), but this bottle was better. Maybe it just needed some rest in the cellar, or maybe my palate was just more amenable to it. 🤷🏻♂️ No matter, I’m just happy to have enjoyed the cherry and red fruit flavors in this. It still seemed to show a little age, which makes me wonder if the storage in the wine store was less than ideal. Still, I enjoyed it!
Tip of the day: If you see the 2012 or 2013 Caparzo out there, I highly recommend grabbing a bottle or two. Great values, both!
As my cellar stash will attest, I’m a HUGE Brunello lover. What about you? Do you like Brunello? Any favorites?

A winery that deserves two posts! Welcome to Vineyard 29...let me open the door for you ❤️ This winery really does it all...and does it amazingly well. They are capturing all wine lovers with their Estate and Cru collections. I had the chance to visit their Estate and was blown away by the quality and purity of their wines.
A few facts worth noting: 🍷 Current owners Chuck and Anne McMinn acquired the Estate and Aida vineyard in 2000
🍷 Philippe Melka was lead winemaker until 2018 when he handed over the reigns to now head winemaker Keith Emerson
🍷 They take great joy in giving back to deserving organizations throughout Napa Valley every year
🍷 Their Estate wines all come from the Vineyard 29 and Aida vineyards
🍷 The Cru portfolio fruit comes from other great sources in Napa Valley and Willamette Valley; they are made at Vineyard 29’s modern gravity flow winery.
Stay tuned...more to come on the winery visit and wines!! Until then, enjoy the views 🍇
@alexandermurrayco 21 yrs braes of Glenlivet has an oak flavor and a smooth finish. @revayaliqour presents you this smooth finish drink best enjoyed with fruits.

🇷🇺 Среда - это маленькая пятница; последний реально жаркий день лета; все достало - хочу отдохнуть... Каждый может подобрать себе отличную причину выпить сегодня бокальчик яркого розе Faustino VII Rosado Rioja DOC. 🍷☺️
🇬🇧⬇️ Wednesday is a little Friday, so why don't drink a glass or two of cold and fresh Faustino VII Rosado Rioja DOC from Bodegas Faustino, the local giant which owns 7 wineries in 5 different appellations: Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Navarra, La Mancha & Cava. 🍷☺️
👀 Deep rose colour.
👃 Medium+ intensity on the nose, with strawberry, red currant and red apples.🍓 Some refreshing minerality.
👄 Fresh, crispy, with medium+ acidity, minerality again, red fruits dominate the mouth, some cherries come forward. 🍒 Quite good both for apero or with the seafood.
🏅 Rating: 86/100
Do you drink on Wednesdays too? 😆🍷
One of my favorite things about tasting different wines is finding something that I am not exposed to on a regular basis. While I enjoy finding a great Pinot Grigio or Cab Sav to share with everyone, sometimes finding a less popular grape like Vermentino is just as fun to gain exposure to different parts of the world.
The particular Vermentino that I tried recently came from La Spinetta in the Tuscany region. What I like about this wine is that it is crisp and herbaceous (crushed rock and rosemary) , with a little fruit profile of lemon, pear and apple as well. .
This profile leads to a great compliment to lighter meats and fish, as well as roasted veggies, pastas with pesto or salads.
✨...... The days are beautiful, but Peel Estate Wines know how to warm up these last few winter nights..... 🔥
Our 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is the ultimate, silky smooth winter warmer.........🍷 'Beautiful scarlet-red. The bouquet is loaded with jammy redcurrants, leafy blackcurrants and a lick of French oak. It is amazing to get a maturing red wine built for the long haul as a new release at seven years of age. This is a true “claret” style Cabernet, lightly dancing along the palate with its medium-bodied structure, but with powerful fruit intensity and a gentle tannin grip. The balance is impeccable. There is a suppleness and satiny texture to the tannins and a bracing acid finish. This wine will have a long and glorious future'✨🔥💥🍷
