Yesterday, @briarrosewinery in Temecula, California invited us to visit and have a tasting at their beautiful vineyard. We were so impressed with their wine and had the most relaxing afternoon in their courtyard filled with vines and olive trees. This vineyard offers one of the most unique and personalized experience, from their Snow White themed tasting room to their big, bold wines! If you are a fan of Disney, you MUST put this place on your bucket list! 🍷
Opened in the 1970’s, Beldon Fields purchased this land and built replicas of Snow White’s cottage for his wife. He worked along with Walt Disney and was the creator behind some of the attractions and rides at Disneyland. If that isn’t cool enough, this vineyard also grows and produces their OWN grapes and wine on their 40 acres of land, 23 of which are used for vines. The types of grapes they planted in the 1990’s include a Viognier, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling and Zinfandel. Some of the wines we loved were the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon (crowd favorite), 2016 Malbec (we took home two bottles of it!), and the 2013 Estate Zinfandel, but they have many more to offer that are also amazing. We ended with their Rosé which was a sweet finish to the tasting. These wines are all unfiltered, and most are bold, thick and rich! They just finished harvesting their crop for this season, and are getting ready to start bottling the appx. 3000 cases they are able to produce per year. That being said, you wont be able to find their wine in big box stores, but you can either visit their vineyard or go on their website for more details on purchasing a bottle!
Fun fact- Because he loved their wine so much, President George W. Bush invited Briar Rose Winery to the White House during his presidency and selected their wine to be served at a gala in his honor. How amazing is that?! 🇺🇸 The owners, family and staff of Briar Rose were so gracious and welcoming to invite us into their home. We had the best time getting to know the history of the winery, their family, and learned more about Temecula wine country. We cannot wait to return and hope that you get the chance to stop by the next time you are in Temecula!
It’s Monday and I’m still excited about yesterday’s @byronblattywines fall release party.
The LA Wine Revolution is in full swing and Mark at Byron Blatty is making some fantastic wines.
The highlight of the event was the 2015 Ghost Cat, featuring Griffith Park’s P-22 Cougar. Proceeds from the purchase of a bottle go to a wonderful cause, building a park over the 101 freeway so that LA cougars can safely cross. Without the park, these cats will go extinct within 50 years.
Ghost cat is 40% Syrah, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Cab Franc, and 10% Merlot all from LA County, aged 33 months in French Oak and one year in bottle.
Los Angeles is one of only two cities with cougars. Anyone know the other city?
Where are my Byron Blatty fans? Have you tried their wines? Which is your fave?
Beautiful visit at @francopacenticanalicchio and thanks to Lucrezia.
Really traditionell Small #winery around 10 ha with 100% #sangiovese from the zone canalicchio die sopra Northeast of #montalcino . Traditionell big casks and a new cellar ... with a Production of nearly ~ 38000 bottles per year 😅
We tasted the three wines they are producing
2016 Rosso di Montalcino
2014 Brunello di Montalcino
2012 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
Classic Interpretation of Sangiovese.
The Rosso was silky Fine, herbal, peppery, and red fruity. Reminded me more of a Brunello. From next vintage they doubled the aging of Two years before release ❤️... That is something to Look for 😅🙏#
Difficult year for Brunello ... Lots of rain reduced the yeald to 16000 bottles but it is a very good example of HOW to Produce a very good wine in a difficult year. Reduced nose, silky tannins, round acidity... a Brunello which can be drank straight away. Less Body of course but really enjoyable 🍷🙏 #wine#wines#winery#winelover#winelovers🍷 #winelovers#winetime#winestagram#wineoclock#winetasting#wine🍷 #winemaking#wineporn
When your Pinot-loving BFF comes to town, you open one of the best from @hazelferncellars in the Willamette Valley! 😍
This Pinot drank even better than I remembered from my visit to their property - it’s silky smooth with delicious berry flavor and has proven to be one of my favorite Pinots time and time again!
During my visit to the property this past summer with Trisha from @oregonwineexp, I met Laura, part of the husband and wife duo making all of the Hazelfern magic happen! We chatted about wine (of course), health, life, and love, as if we’d been friends for years. These are the type of experiences that make me love wine, it’s one of the greatest connectors of all! ❤️
