A young Lion with the world at its feet... or not!
Depends on us humans, so what can we do to solve human-animal conflicts due to loss of habitat among other things? Donations to nonprofit organisations are a great way to help! They need all resources they can. I donate to @ccfcheetah and @africanwildlifefoundation , where do you donate? Do you want to?

When you go out on the morning drive and the rainy night have made for some great bokeh shots! *************************************************** Lions are very social cats and live in groups called prides. Asiatic and African lion prides are very different, though.

African lion prides consist of up to three males, around a dozen females, and their young, according to National Geographic. There are prides that have as many as 40 members, though.
Asian lions divide themselves into two prides. The females have a pride and the males have a pride. They only come together during mating season.

With both types of lion prides, the females stay put. All of the females in a pride are usually related to each other because females tend to stay with the pride in which they are born. Males, on the other hand, wander off to create their own pride when they are old enough. #africanimals #africanwildlife #wildlifeaddicts #african_portraits #africanamazing #nb_nature_brilliance #animalportrait #nuts_about_wildlife #hubs_united #savetheanimals #conservation #savehabitat #savewildlife #africanwildlifefoundation #africaninspired #wildlifeconservation #dswt #wildlife_captures #featured_wildlife #lions #marvelouz_animals #AFRICANature #loversofwildlife #wildlifeinalens #MeetSouthAfrica #lion #bokeh #lionbokeh #savethelions #endangeredspecies
The moment you look through the lens and realizes that a massive cat has it's predatory gaze fixed on you! 😮😮😁
🐾⠀
In that particular moment everything else seize to exist. There are no sounds anymore, no wind, the birds have stopped singing, everything is gone and its only you and that beast staring at each other.
🐾
I can honestly say that the first time it happened it sent chills down my spine! You want to look away, avoid to challenge the beast, but you can't because time and space is gone, it's only you two left!⠀

Cheetah Mother! *************************************************** Cheetah mothers raise their young in isolation. They move their litter—usually two to six cubs—every four days to prevent a build-up of smell that predators can track. After 18 months of training as hunters, the cheetah cubs finally leave their mothers. The cubs then form a sibling group that will stay together for another six months. Backlit Cheetah Cub! ************************************************** This was one of two Cheetah cubs hanging out with their mother in some high grass. This was my first Safari on foot which was an amazing experience, much because of how relaxed the mother and the cubs were with us around. I would say we were as close as 10 meters (3.3 feet). ************************************************** In 2016 a report from the Zoological Society of London showed that more than half the world's surviving cheetahs live in one population that ranges across six countries in southern Africa.

Because the cheetah is one of the widest-ranging carnivores, it roams across lands far outside protected areas. Some 77% of their habitat falls outside these parks and reserves. As a result, the animal struggles because these lands are increasingly being developed by farmers and the cheetah's prey is declining because of bushmeat hunting. Another of the big concerns about cheetahs has been the illegal trafficking of cubs, fuelled by demand from the Gulf states. The young cats can fetch up to $10,000 on the black market. According to the Cheetah Conservation Fund, @ccfcheetah, some 1,200 cheetah cubs are known to have been trafficked out of Africa over the past 10 years but around 85% of them died during the journey. ************************************************** #wildestafrica #wildlifephotography #bigcat #natgeoyourshot #wildlifeinalens #africanwildlife #safari #wildlife #southafrica #wildlife_private #stoppoaching #saveourwildlife #naturematters #conservation #african_portraits #dswt #wildlifeconservation #africanamazing #africanwildlifefoundation #endangeredspecies #vulnerablespecies #savethecheetah #tripsandclicks_it #bigcatswildlife #cheetahconservationfund #ccfcheetah #endextinction #endangered #wildlifeconservation #humansforcheetahs
Happy International Cheetah day!! *************************************************** There are less than 7,100 cheetahs left in the wild, making the cheetah Africa’s most endangered big cat. A juvenile Bateleur staring curiously at me! *************************************************** The eagle most associated with Kruger is probably the Bateleur. Its name derives from the French for acrobat or tightrope walker in reference to the way it juggles its wings from side to side as it flies low over the mixed woodlands throughout the Park.

In Shangaan it is known as Ximongwe, the bird of the kings. In Zululand during the 19th century it was known as indlamadoda , the 'Eater of the Warriors' because of its habit of eating the bodies of warriors lying dead on the battlefield.

Bateleur Male and Female. It is the only eagle that deliberately makes a noise with its wings during courtship and territorial displays - in local folklore, this sound was the same as that of an assegai beating against a shield.

The Bateleur has a reputation for bravery as it is not put off by dangerous prey. It regularly attacks and eats poisonous mambas and puffadders and on at least one occasion has taken a lion cub - wildlife photographer Peter Johnson once found the skull of a lion cub in a Bateleur's nest in Zimbabwe!

According to Roberts VII there are an estimated 600 pairs in the Park and adjacent private reserves. They spend more time in the air than most other raptors, covering roughly 400km a day in search of carrion and live prey. They are very territorial. Southern Ground Hornbill **************************************************** The lifespan of the Southern Ground Hornbill is impressive spanning some 50 or 60 years.
The Southern Ground Hornbill’s numbers are in a steady decline, and it is now classified as being Vulnerable and, in some places, Critically Endangered. In South Africa, this is due to almost three-quarters of its habitat being lost to overgrazing, a loss of suitable breeding trees, the land being converted into commercial farms, and so on. The male of this species is known for cracking glass windows, as it watches and interacts with its reflection. This has led to their being poisoned or otherwise killed by the homeowners. *************************************************** #naturephotography #birdsofinstagram #instabird #wildlifephotography #best_birds_of_ig #natgeoyourshot #wildlifeinalens #wildlife #birds_captures #bestbirdshots #birdphotography #birdproshots #naturelovers #bird ##birdwatching #birds_crazy #birdfanlove #natgeowild #welove_birds #your_best_birds #naturyst #_bird_wonderful_ #best_birds_of_world #kings_birds #featured_wildlife #loversofwildlife #goodbirds #_birds_fanlove_ #tripsandclicks_it

Baboon on the rocks! ***************************************************The baboon’s major predators are humans.
Baboons are often intentionally poisoned and killed because they tend to be considered as a pest species. They are also hunted for their skins—this is more common with the sacred baboon. Use of baboons in laboratories and medical research has also increased.
Baboons are losing their homes.
Habitat loss due to overgrazing, agricultural expansion, irrigation projects, and overall human settlement growth is a threat to this species. This Elephant came very close to greet us with its trunk!! 👋👋👋🐘*************************************************** Did you know the following?
In 1930, as many as 10 million wild elephants roamed huge swaths of the African continent. But decades of poaching and conflict have since decimated African elephant populations. In 2016, experts estimated that Africa’s elephant population had dropped by 111,000 elephants in the span of a decade. Today, there are just 415,000 elephants across Africa. While elephant poaching is trending downward, with significant declines in East Africa, poaching continues to steer the species dangerously nearer to extinction.

@wildlife.in.a.lens "Powerful and majestic, the king of the beasts has no natural predators. But unthinkably, African lion numbers have plummeted by over 40% in the last three generations, due to loss of living space and conflict with people.
Lions are the most sociable of all big cats. They live in groups called prides, which usually consist of related females and their cubs. Dominant males, with their flowing manes (a sign of virility), fight to maintain breeding rights.
Three-quarters of African lion populations are in decline. With only around 20,000 in the wild, they’re now officially classified as ‘vulnerable’."
