It’s 19 degrees outside. I blew out my lower back on Monday. It’s slowly feeling better.
I’m writing. I’m reading. Every so often I get up and move around. Because I’m easily distracted I don’t go back to writing. Instead I read The NY Times headlines about yesterday’s impeachment hearing and Trump’s tweet which may be another impeachable offense.
There was also another shooting last night at a high school football game in South Jersey. Two days ago, on my Facebook page, I wrote about a high school shooting in California and shared a quote from one of the students: “The world now is weird.” The book I am reading by the wood stove is Don Delillo’s White Noise. The novel was written in 1984, 35 years ago.
I came across this:
“We don’t know whether we are watching in wonder or dread, we don’t know what we are watching or what it means, we don’t know whether it is permanent, a level of experience to which we will gradually adjust, into which our uncertainty will be absorbed, or just some atmospheric weirdness, soon to pass.”
Again this may seem weird, it may seem like a strange coincidence, but I find thoughts like this often collide when I’m paying attention.
I have come to realize nothing is weird. History often repeats itself, deja vu is real, the same mistakes are made over and over again when the majority isn’t paying attention, and chaos counts on our inattentive nature.
