Varanasi city of light, the oldest continually inhabited city, Shiva’s city, destruction and renewal, teaming with life and death. A place where you can’t avoid living and being in the moment. #varanasi#varanasidiaries
November 12. Yesterday, it was Dev Diwali - one of the most significant event of Varanasi. This year I couldn't make it to there but last year it was really memorable being there on this occasion.
I'm taking the opportunity to share this image today all because when I posted this image on my previous IG page @iembb I never imagined that it'll become viral on the internet. It was widely shared on the various IG featuring pages (50+ pages) with due credit of course but then a few people started taking credit for this image. Many of friends from Varanasi even today send me screenshots that how this image has been a sensation till the date since then.
It was shocking to know that someone even participated in a photography event with this image at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) organised by one of renowned Hindi newspaper Amar Ujala. My image was displayed there with someone else's name and it got win an award to that person. Later it even got published into this newspaper with her name and I felt like someone just disowned me from my own work.
There are pages/groups on facebook which keep sharing this image without any due credit, they probably don't even know who on earth made this image. There are bloggers, websites who have shared this image in the same manner. I've noticed at many places and people on IG also keep sending me screenshots wherever they notice this image.
♦️ So, I would ask you all for a favour - if you could share this image on your story with credit so that more n more people get to know about the real artist. Thank you.
