In Accra, Ghana there's a giant outdoor shopping area called Obruni Wayru. They sell everything, including miles of discarded clothing shipped form the U.S. Obruni Wayru translates to "Dead White Man's Clothing." I mean, why would anyone discard perfectly good clothing unless he was dead?
I always found that amusing, and a little disturbing, reflecting on the massive consumerism and waste of American habits. Searching for used items can be a challenge, time consuming, but rewarding. It makes me feel good to find little gems and know I haven't contributed to waste, but making a tiny impact to reduce. I want to thank my style guru @Sheulisms for showing me style and quality can be very affordable. Tshirt was from a trade with a friend (Go Hawaii Lacrosse!) Jacket from Portugal. #tombomb#tomboybomshell#tomboy#reduce#reuse#recycle
