Facebook reminded me that 8 years ago today I had my graduation show for @fem_com standup comedy class with @cameronesposito as our teacher in the back room of The Lincoln Restaurant pancake house! Tonight I found myself at an open mic that happened to be all women (Living Room Sessions at @aliveonechicago ) and was surrounded by tons of support as well as some of my ol’ pals still hitting the mics, plus I met some new faces I and was reminded again why I love this sh*t so much! Thank you @annalu88 and @solicomedy for getting me out of the house and to everyone running this mic and all the other all-female/non-binary mics in the city. I was viewing some of old photos on my laptop and found lots of art museums photos from my trip to US in 2013 when I had the opportunity to visit few states, and I had the chance to visit freer gallery of art and national gallery of art in Washington DC, and a local art exhibition in Portsmouth in Virginia.
Here are just few photos of me and my twin sister sarra with some pieces in different locations, I have other photos of the art pieces only, but we loved to take photos with some of them.
And because I was working on my master in Islamic scientific illustrations, I was happy to see pages from Arabic Materia Medica of Dioscorides in freer gallery and to have photo with them.
most of these photos and other photos of art pieces were taken by sarra, I may upload later some of the Islamic art pieces from freer gallery and oil paintings from national gallery with their lovely antique frames💓. * the photos with two paintings of women with head cover were taken for fun because they looked like us wearing hijab 😆 and they remind me of my Pinterest board I made for veil in art, As I started few years ago to collect various work of art that show women covering their heads or their faces (and of course their entire body), just to prove artists can make beautiful work of art that depicts woman, with out showing the beauty of her body, and it's not the subject that makes the work look great, rather, it's how the artist render it. if you are interested visit my Pinterest (Pinterest.com/hagaralgammal) and take a look at it. (You will find also board for Islamic scientific illustrations and another board for Islamic botanical illustrations, the first was my master topic and the second was my PhD topic). #usa#washingtondc#nationalgalleryofart#myngadc#freergallery#freersackler#artmuseum#art#fineart#oldmasterpaintings#throwback#hijabinart#hijab#hijabi#veil#niqab#phd#painting#hijabfashion#shetravelsmodestly#hotd
