📸 YFA Guide @adambrown842 scaled Mt. Conness last week and snapped these incredible photos!
🐘 The first photo shows the peak looming in the background of some gorgeous and unique Elephant’s Head flowers (Pedicularis groenlandica). If you look closely, you can see their long “trunks” and ear-shaped petals. A very cool find!
❄️ The second photo shows the morning view beneath North Peak, where the temperature was only 29 degrees Fahrenheit. You can see some ice on the surface of the water, alongside a meadow with glacial till. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌡 It is truly incredible how temperatures in the park can vary so widely due to elevation. It’s been in the 90s in the valley and mid-80s in Tuolumne Meadows, but cool temperatures are always within reach if you’re willing to do a little bit of climbing.
Is it just me, or do you ever have one of those days where you just crave to be in a wild open space, where you can gaze into the distance and just watch the light change as the clouds blow overhead? ⠀
I've definitely had one of those days today!
