One difference, I KNEW I was going to be successful before I ever put the weight on the bar. . Adversity gives you a massive opportunity to show what you’re made of. . Especially on a rack where i clipped the safety’s and got the speed wobbles a few times 😂 as @callousedhandspower would say. - Vids are in reverse order and bands add about 100lbs at lockout for anyone who wants to know. - 275 x 2 x 3 295 x 2 x 3 Stat vids 315 x 2 x 3 335 x 1 355 x 1 360 x 1 with some def left in the tank. - My forearms were super blown up today, hence the painfully slow descent on some of my initial reps. ME Lower: worked up to a max single on the bulldog bar. For those unfamiliar with this bar, it’s 65lbs and considerable bigger in diameter to the Texas squat bar and frankly just feels odd to me. AWESOME night of squatting. Switching shoes has really paid dividends for me. I’ve become much more stable and my ability to sit back into the wraps and feel comfortable has dramatically improved. Just because you’ve always done things one way, doesn’t mean that’s the optimal way for you. Many variations of shoes, wraps etc till Find the ones that make you feel confident under the bar. - 545 x 3 600 x 3 635 x 1 675 x 1 - After review, need to work on a few things, mainly foot spacing. For the past 8 years or so I’ve deadlifted as my thanksgiving workout. Started in Houston and continued on when i moved back to Kansas City. It’s fun to me and this year was no different!! - ME deadlift vs quad mini bands (oof!) - 545 x 1 (previous PR) 565 x 1 (20lb pr) 585 x 1 (40lb pr) - Bigger picture, relatively no knee cave compared to heavy deads earlier this year. And that is EXACTLY what my athletes @hunter_marie24 and @sacajaweea1 exuded this weekend at their competitions. - Both experienced circumstances that would have crushed the mentally weak and turned the tide of the meet against them. Instead they used the will and mental strength they’ve been building as individuals to dominate their competitions and become unstoppable even when things didn’t go as they wished. - First. Hunter comes in with a HUGE day in her second meet. Totally 1080 at 165lbs and taking home best female lifter. - Squats 374 - ⚪️⚪️⚪️ - 22lb pr 407 - ⚪️⚪️⚪️ - 55lb pr 429 - 🔴🔴🔴 - successful squat but in the excitement she racked it too early 🤦🏻‍♂️ - Bench 209 - ⚪️⚪️⚪️ 17lb Pr 226 - ⚪️⚪️⚪️ 34lb pr 242 - 🔴🔴🔴 - small errors made it difficult, just not their that day. - So as you can see, a few kicks in the ass heading into deadlifts. There is where being mentally strong is SO crucial. Instead of dwelling on what was out of her control. She dealt with the emotions the misses caused and marched on to absolutely dominate deadlifts. - Deadlifts 407 - ⚪️⚪️⚪️ - 33lb Pr 429 - ⚪️⚪️⚪️ - 55lb Pr 446 - ⚪️⚪️⚪️ - 72lb Pr - Couldn’t be more proud of her! How do you know when to quit or when to repeat the set? I hate the word ‘quit’ because it carries a negative connotation with it. Quitting isn’t necessarily bad, sometimes it’s SMART. Being able to decide what to do in training takes time and experience. I see most beginners make the mistake of quitting too early with insufficient effort, while experienced lifters get consumed by their ego and refuse to quit at the expense of an injury or a shattered confidence. It all boils down to your ability to determine if the fail was due to lack of strength, effort (not hyped or motivated) or a technical/correctable error. The last two can be corrected but if the strength isn’t there that day there’s nothing you can do and you need to move on. Little action from last night. 495 on the camber bar plus light bands. Nothing extremely heavy, still working on a few cues to pick it out of the mono smoothly which is a completely different feel than walking the weight out. “You don’t always have to love the training, but you do have to crave the end result so much that the work it takes to get there doesn’t matter.” - Today I started the last few weeks of prep for my meet on November 3rd; after looking at the final 5 weeks of programming for this meet. I’ve felt a lot of emotions: excitement, the urge to physically harm @sylva_sbc, nervousness, fear (some of the percentages are heavy and by that I mean the heaviest weights I’ve ever touched) and especially pride realizing all the work I HAVE DONE and the sacrifices I HAVE MADE to get me to this point! - Keeping all that in mind, I put my head down today and did just that and got to work. - 380 x 3 (1st video) 390 x 2 (reverse micro mini) 400 x 2 (reverse micro mini)(2nd video) - ALL of those were weights I’ve never touched before and it felt SO good to absolutely crush them and simultaneously crush any doubt in my head about what i could or couldn’t do. #Repost @callousedhandspower ・・・ BACK RAISE DEADLIFTS...here is @sylva_sbc doing some of these. These are an exercise that have been around for awhile, but that you might not see all that often. There’s not a single one of us that wishes for a weaker back or glutes. If I could have one piece of equipment outside of a bar and weights, a back raise would probably be my choice. It’s a relatively inexpensive piece of equipment, and you can find them at most commercial gyms. At one point I had one I got for free off of craigslist. When I trained around @pete.rubish, he lived in these. I ignored these until training consistently with an old friend, @drleeangle. We’d do them every time we went into the gym. They’re a great exercise to build a deadlift, and they certainly won’t hurt your squat. I prefer to use a lighter weight and try to contract my glutes as hard as possible for 1-3 seconds, while keeping my back as rigid as possible. There’s no need for hyperextension on these. Back raise work has unquestionably helped my deadlift at one point or another over the years. You can do this exercise, back raises with your body weight, back raises holding weight at your chest or behind your head, with bands or chains, you can vary your grip with on back raise deadlifts, and several abdominal exercises can be done on this piece. I encourage you not to ignore this piece of equipment if you have access to it. Especially if you’re interested in building a stronger deadlift. A strong back is something that every single “elite” level lifter I’ve been around posses. Deadlifts and rows are done often, and this one is not!

Twice in a months time, @jplifts_sbc has complimented my bench. That’s more times than in the past year and a half. 😂 but that’s the RIGHT thing to be happening. I should get a fuckin “atta boy, great job” for doing the work I’m supposed to be doing. I’m supposed to come in and do the right thing and complete my workout. Only when there is vast technical or strength improvement should i be hearing praise. Until then, JP and the rest of the team should be hammering me on what i did wrong. Not praising me for what i was supposed to do right anyway. - ME BENCH - @texaspowerbars squat bar plus + 4 chain a side (160lbs) was the base. - 465 x 3 485 x 2 Add @mbslingshot slanger 505 x 4 - Spoto press 365 x 7 shown - Probably one of my better bench nights, ever. 500 x 2 on the @kabukistrengthlab #transformer Bar in the front squat position today. Wanted to get back in wraps a little today and push it closer to 585 but lots going on so it didn’t work out that way. Regardless I’m VERY happy with the work i got in. - Wanted to see if i could double over hang (NOT HOOK GRIP) 595 today, i couldn’t. Dropped that son of a bitch just before lockout 😂 - Hit it for 6 singles mixed grip after that - Tried 200lb kettle bell swings after a few other accessory movements. I think with some practice i could hit a solid set of 10 but i was all over the place when balance today 😂 - If the smiles at a few end of a few of these videos don’t tell u how much i love this, then i don’t know what to tell u. I love training every day, even the bad days that make me mad. - I honestly don’t care if anyone else lifts weights. I enjoy it, this stuff is supposed to add to your life, not detract from it. If it’s not doing that. Find something that does.
