Stress and pressure a VITAL component achieving greatness.

@sacajaweea1 had plenty of that on her way to success at this past weekends meet. She PR’d all three lifts and set a big total PR in the 123lb class by way of 315 squat, 180 bench and 375 deadlift for a 870 total. Besting her previous best total by a whopping 85lbs. These numbers did not come easy or without some adversity in the days leading up to and even on the day of the meet.

You see, in today's day and age, it's extremely popular to talk about avoiding stress and pressure, de-stressing, managing stress, you name it.  People are taught to shy away from pressure and stress as a negative thing, but that's a very dangerous road...

Why?

A stress-free life is an average life, period.

Think of anything great that you have ever achieved in life. Was it stressful? Did you experience pressure along the way? I’ve read before and agree with the statement of "Stress doesn't kill you, stress brings you to life."

Better every time I got under the bar, set to set and day by day. A few reps i needed to keep better posture and head up on the but overall very happy and find it very easy to focus on corrections in sleeves.

Learning my sleeves strength again and making a BIG push in them. I should have prob been about 15-20lbs heavier to have been a max triple. But ill relearn my sleeve squat as we go and get better at those calls.

I do want to give a big thank you and shout out to everybody on the team. Being part of a BIG group or team is a little more challenging at times than ppl might expect. There are ppl who view different paths for everyone, don’t see eye to eye on issues etc etc but as @underthebar Says, when you walk through the gym door, all that shit needs to get cast aside and you focus on the task at hand and i can say we DO a good job of that. It doesn’t go unnoticed or unappreciated.

i wanted 804 (684 + 120) but i wasn’t good enough tonight. My feet were set too wide on this squat and it changed my pick, how i bore the weight on my back and just my overall position. i didn’t earn the chance to have 804 on my back tonight.

My bench has mad a ton of progress but still has so far to go. I need to not fight the hand off so much and do a better job of accepting it and setting the weight into my Lats.

That’s something that @bagelboiii__ helped me with tonight. Lil JP is one of the most technically sound lifters you could follow and gave me some great setup and execution tips that i think in time, working on just doing those things well, can add pounds to my bench.

Oh hey, it’s me. I’ve taken a whole MONTH to figure out what I want to get out of 2019 because who needs New Years resolutions, amirite? You can manifest your own destiny bia! In 2019 I will be:
• nurturing friendships and growing them deeper
• trying to be kinder to my body • working on my patience
• getting stronger
• remembering that every person I interact with is bringing something new to the table
• making time for me to write more (for those of you who don’t know me, writing has and always will be a huge passion)
• supporting and encouraging others
• trying to keep in mind that balance in life is key
• pushing myself out of my social comfort zones

Another great night of squatting in the books. Still made errors and still managed some good reps despite those errors. I need to focus more on keeping my chest up, i need to take the entire squat on one breath (not one to unrack and one to squat) and i need to make sure the entirety of my food stays planted during the squat.

640/760 - the bar was at an angle across the hooks of the mono and made the pick off. I SHOULD have taken the pick and squatted all in one breath. But in recovering from a bad pick, i had to re-breathe/brace. Happy to see i COULD do that, not panic and still hit the rep.

616/736 My best squat is the night. You can easily see the difference taking one breath to complete the squat makes. MUCH better control and power.

Big (for me) work on the duffalo bar with 2 ALMOST Triples at 420 which is just 4 pounds shy of my best meet bench.

In the first video you see @jplifts_sbc grab the bar right as i say “i got it!” And he had every right to do so.
.
I see lots of people bitching about spotters grabbing the bar early or doing whatever during sets. Well ya know what, they’re literally just trying to keep you safe. So instead of having a melt down and bitching them out. Be fucking better, and then they wouldn’t have had a feeling like they needed to take it. That was on me.

That’s why i came back better on the second set and DID BETTER. That’s on me, my fucking responsibility to be better and do more.

Deload week before before the final push of prep.

I don’t believe in deloads where you do 50% bullshit for a few sets of 3-5. It doesn’t tend to be enough stimulus and leaves me feeling worse the week after. I like to pick a moderate weight (70-75%) and do 1 set with it at an rpe of 7-8. And move on to accessory work that doesn’t aggravate any nagging injuries and do a moderate volume there. Get a good work set in, get a little pump with accessory work and get out.

In November I failed my 242lb 3rd attempt bench with a competition grip. Last night I hit it paused, close grip. One difference, I KNEW I was going to be successful before I ever put the weight on the bar.
