That feeling when you accidentally sign up for a Swimrun and realize you’ve only swum 6km in the last 4 months!! (Just thank goodness I somehow still fit into this Wetsuit!! 😂 🐧)
Heard about the @waterfrontcanalchallenge few days ago and knew I’d feel FOMO if I woke up Saturday morning and saw everyone Swimming just outside our window! Grateful to have such a loving, supportive hubby - with a sense of humor - to cheer me on and document my inaugural & flailing effort to 🏃🏼♀️ 🏊♂️ 🏃🏼♀️ 🏊♂️ 🏃🏼♀️ 🏊♂️ 🏃🏼♀️ in the canals!
Definitely a unique sport - one for the swimmers! - and It was nice to get experience a new challenge. The Swimrun transitions are a thing of their own, and it was tough switching between my weakest and strongest disciplines over and over (when in triathlon, the Swim is tough but then it’s DONE!). Also continually throwing myself into chilly water after getting my heart rate up to max was a physical toughie, followed by jumping out of the water and feeling nauseous getting back into a water-logged sprint!
In conclusion? I loved it and look forward to finding the next Swimrun event to have some fun. Next up, tomorrow’s @gunrunsa - taking care of a calf niggle and planning to enjoy one of my favorite long runs by the sea 🌊 ♥️.
