multiverse_astronomer Here is a view from the underside of a Tardigrade as it crawls on a glass slide. The eyes and mouthparts are clearly visible from this tough yet cute microbial animal. The circles in the body are storage cells, and the dark area is ingested food. The movement of the little legs and claws are always fascinating to me. This animal is less than 1 millimeter in length. Collected from a freshwater microbial mat and viewed with 400x DIC. .

My group focus on the well-known theorist, Stephen Hawking, who was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis at a young age.
One professor posed the idea that Hawking may have had an unknown disease (not ALS) and one day we will call it Stephen Hawking’s disease (as opposed to ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease). What are your thoughts?
