Monday was the day we tried to go to Lagoon and failed. Closed for the season. (That very day I might add.) It was how the girls wanted to celebrate coming home from Residential. And I totally dropped the ball. We ended up having a fun day, but it definitely wasn’t Lagoon.

Tuesday I got a text from my friend. “Hi friend! Any chance you guys are free Friday for Lagoon?” How is that timing even real?! I couldn’t believe our luck! And the subtext to that question is everything. When she asks it means Lagoon is closed to the public and she has free tickets for us. Minimal crowds, no cost, and a chance to see her. (Even if it’s only for a minute 😂) I feel like life keeps throwing us curve balls, and then these amazing blessings in the mix.

So the girls got their Lagoon Day. And they got it in the best way possible since they struggle in crowds and lines. Plus it was a huge blessing for us while we’re trying to figure out finances for Private school. Thanks @chelseaemeline for being a constant blessing in our lives. It couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.

He said - “If I ever leave this world alive
I'll take on all the sadness that I left behind
If I ever leave this world alive
The madness that you feel will soon subside
So, in a word, don't shed a tear
I'll be here when it all gets weird
If I ever leave this world alive
So when in doubt, just call my name
Just before you go insane
If I ever leave this world, hey, I may never leave this world
But if I ever leave this world alive.” .

She says - “I'm okay, I'm alright
Though you have gone from my life
You said that it would
Now everything should be all right”

@floggingmolly - If I Ever Leave This World Alive.

I promised you I’d live and dammit, I don’t break my promises.

MOOOOMIN'S IN THE HOUSE! Today Bianca got to meet (and hug) Moomin at @vellingeblomman_official. Happy girl! 😍
Interesting. We're grateful that we're receiving cards from some of the most powerful companies in the world. Thankfully, we're getting cards from some of the most renown universities ever. Even with over 330+ different groups joining in, over 20% of our cards have come from Independent Artists.
Here's a snapshot of some of the 42 cards we received from one of our top contributors, @sellarsneal! She's already made 1,911 #cards for our kids! If you compared her to some of the top corporations and schools, that would make her one of our #Top10 groups!
Thankfully these cards are in Spanish and Portuguese! .

Happy Weekend! And how is it almost September already?? This year is flying by...another sports-filled weekend. The boy is in the midst of four different @specialolympics sports at this point, and our car is just a big equipment container 😆🏌🏼‍♂️🎳⚾️🏊🏼‍♂️
We headed to the movies last night - finally! @peanutbutterfalcon came to town! We have been waiting all summer to see it, and it did not disappoint 🎬 We did take Caleb, and there was a bit of language 😬 but the story line was wonderful! The acting was terrific (@zacharygottsagen you were awesome!). You really got a sense of the struggles some of our young adults face - wanting to dream big and live life, but not having enough support in place to make it happen. Or the support people think is best, isn’t necessarily a good fit for that person. It definitely makes you think about the future, what life can look like, possibilities and opportunities for people with intellectual differences. About true friendship and what “makes” a family. We say “three thumbs up!” 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 and like I said on my FB, if Caleb ends up running away in his underwear, I blame this film lol 😆
Well done, @shialabeouf__official @dakotajohnson @tylernilson @labeoufronkkoturner @timzaj @globaldownsyndrome and everyone involved. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 .

.
.
Heerlijk!

"This is our story of love, determination and our own version of perfection. Jay was born 1st August 2014 after a happy and healthy pregnancy. A cuddly ball of loveliness, we knew right then life would never be the same again. At only a few days old we noticed his left fist was constantly clenched and his arm was either pulled in tight towards his body or hung down beside him. Doctors were certain Jay was fine and that there was nothing to worry about. My gut told me that they were wrong. We vowed to give Jay the best start and began baby massage and encouraged movement and activity every chance we got. Jay's hand and arm showed significant improvement however when he began to walk we noticed Jays left leg was also effected. The doctors then agreed to an MRI when he was 2 years old. Jay was diagnosed with Left Sided Hemiplegia Cerebral Palsy. With fine motor therapy, gross motor therapy, botox therapy, the use of an AFO splint and unconditional love Jay is determined, courageous, full to the brim with adventure and he does not ever let his diagnosis define him. You can follow Jay's love for therapy." ❤️✨ @team_jayjay_cp #iamable #cerebralpalsyawareness #extraordinarylife

Do you know someone who knows someone that can help our kids out? We’ve got over 60 boards going to underprivileged kids & teens in the next few weeks.
We need about 100 leggies each year. If we can get some of these donated or supplied this means more kids will benefit from our surf program. We need your help, please start the conversations. It can’t hurt. 🏄‍♂️🙏🏼🏄‍♀️ -

Lite. Dåligt. Bara några meter.Men ändå.

Hopscotch is a children's game that can be played with several players or alone. #Hopscotch is a popular playground game in which players toss a small object into numbered triangles or a pattern of rectangles outlined on the ground and then hop or jump through the spaces to retrieve the object. .
.
.
This game can increase the social interaction with peers by taking turns, waiting for turn, understand the game of rules, etc. Also, it is good for gross motor skills: aiming and throw small object, jumping, hop, balancing, etc. .
.
.
Let’s have hopscotch game with your children now! They definitely will love it and lots of skills you can target on especially for our children with special needs. ❤️ .

Case Studies: Learning new skills 💪⠀
⠀
Here at my Favourite Physio, we love to take a moment to celebrate achievements! Recently, several of the children who with have been working with have managed to achieve new skills. 😊⠀
⠀
👧4 year old Miss N, who has mild Cerebral Palsy has learnt to hop on one leg! She is able to hop using either leg effectively, so she can easily play hopscotch with her friends at pre-school!⠀
⠀
🧒 6 year old Master C, who has Ataxia has mastered galloping with either leg! He is currently learning to skip with alternate legs. His aim is to learn to jump with a skipping rope so he can jump rope with his friends at school. ⠀
⠀
👧 5 year old Miss K, who has mild Cerebral Palsy has learnt to jump on and off a Bosu ball with two feet together! 👣When she started physiotherapy 9 months ago, she was tripping over her own feet and was not able to hop on one leg!⠀
⠀
These achievements may sound like small steps, but we know that each of these children worked very hard to master these skills. Congratulations on your achievements and we are very proud of you all! 🚀🚀🚀😊⠀
⠀
If your child 🧒is struggling with gross motor skills and keeping up with their peers, ring us on (02) 9790 4233 to find out how our Paediatric Physiotherapist can help your child learn new skills today!⠀

I'd like to take a minute to brag on this amazing kid. He's always had issues communicating effectively with his peers, even scaring/hurting them on occassion. However, today I witnessed something that put a smile on my face.
We had a friend come over for a little bit after school, and he interacted with him so well! On top of excitedly showing him toys he started asking him situationally correct questions.
He asked him nicely to come to his room and play legos, to which the boy replied that he didn't know how. Everett then replied "don't worry I'll show you!" And proceeded in telling him step by step about building. He was so good about using his words and actually trying to play with his friend that it's still bringing a smile to my face.
I know that we still have a ways to go, but witnessing these small steps forward remind me that we are indeed making progress!!

I think it’s so important to talk about the reality of having a child with special needs / medical needs. I’m exhausted. I’m sad because I don’t get to work as much as I’d like and when I do work i feel guilty for being away. My mind is always fighting on what I should and shouldn’t be doing. I’m terrified of the GTUBE and second question if I made the decision (even though everyone we talk to says we def did I once again find myself doubtful). As time passes and more tests go by I come to realize that this may be a bigger issue than any of us ever imagined. I’ve come to terms this was a disease that was going to happen if he was full term or not. Being preemie was just an added bonus to it all. My body was incapable of carrying him. It’s all so much to accept. I’ve also come to realize having a preemie in the hospital is a lot easier than having a older baby. Not saying it’s easy, but I remember the days River just slept in his crib and now I’m constantly battling him not to pull out all his tubes. That it’s self is a full time job and stresses me the fuck out. But ya. I’m mentally fucking beat. There’s my vent for the evening. 😩🥴 but also check out that adorable tubeless face ♥️ so fucking perfect.
Sleep studies are not easy! Best part was watching him flirt with the ladies 😂😂 #specialneedsfamily #specialneedsparent #specialneedskids #ourlifedesignedbycaileb
