Today we pay tribute to Karl Lagerfeld, who has passed away, at the age of 85. This sketch I made of him is my tribute to this man who has never retired, and had life long contracts working for, not just one, but 3 different fashion brands, all of them huge: Chanel, Fendi, and his own. He had a lot of controversy around him and was a daring man, not necessarily considerate of others. One thing is for sure, we all agree on - he was an incredible talent, an artist, illustrator, photographer, visionary and a great designer. Watch one video of him painting and you will see, as he himself once said, for him designing was like breathing. I am extremely glad to have made a video about him, a tribute, just around the New Year. Textile and fashion designer myself, one day in December I watched an inspiring documentary about him, the same one I had seen almost 10 years ago, in a fashion class. The documentary was still inspiring, mostly thanks to his artistry showing through. It was so contagious, that I couldn't help but grabing a pen and painting a quick watercolor sketch, something I hadn't found the time to do in quite a while. And that sketch is this one. Click the link in bio to watch that video where I sketch Karl and talk about him, his life, and controversy in fashion. 🙏
Ever since that video I haven't really updated my instagram account due to many other projects. But this man is so inspiring that even his death inspires to reflect and focus on the artistry, designing and sharing once again.
I have started this account recently, but you can expect more sharing in the future, on everything from designing, illustration, style and fashion, so follow me and join me on the journey! 👗👜💄👠💕
Karl Lagerfeld was probably the first world's freelance fashion designer, an icon, and an amazing fashion illustrator. Let's all honor his life and legacy today. ❤
