Now that I have your attention, I would like to talk to you about considering cutting down your plastic use (or cutting it out completely.) The amount of plastic we as humans use on an everyday basis is outrageous and could very easily be cut back!
500 MILLION plastic straws are used every day in America and two million single use plastic bags are distributed every minute.
Most plastics don’t biodegrade in any way, so all of that plastic waste could exist for hundreds to thousands of years! Not cute!! Consider using a reusable water bottle and taking it with you places as opposed to the hundreds of plastic water bottles that are probably accumulating in the backseat of your car and room. (Peep @neptuneproject ) Same goes for shopping bags. Reusable bags are more sturdy and can hold more than normal plastic bags so you don’t even need as many for your shopping trips.
Small things we can do along the way can help prevent all of our trash from going into the ocean, polluting our planet and hurting our sea friends!! 🌊🐬🐠🐢 if you click on this picture I have tagged some of my favorite accounts for more sustainable living + youtubers i enjoy watching who have lots of tips for transitioning over!

Today is #skipthestraw day! Whenever you go out to a restaurant, cafe or pub, one small positive action you can take is to tell your server you don’t want a straw for your drink. Remember, by refusing plastic, you don’t have to deal with ‘disposing’ it and you can encourage businesses not to buy it in the first place!

Caption below is v unrelated to photo series of me having fun in the snowstorm last week. Was trapped for 6 nights at my friends place, and it was a fun, crazy, and simultaneously chaotic mess of an adventure week.
Things in life kinda work out. I’m a firm believer in that, BUT only if you let them. It’s okay to walk towards a scary unknown, not knowing how it will pan out. The only way you’re going to end up stuck, is if you don’t surrender to the idea, and you stay where you are, while also trying to get the pay out of what you want. You can’t keep doing the same thing, if you expect different results.
Today I am grateful for all the times I stepped out of my comfort zone. While there certainly could have been more times over the last four years, I never gave up hope that one day I would be in a place where i felt courageous enough, and comfortable enough to put in the difficult work, and do it every day. It’s all a journey, don’t be so hard on yourself if you’re not there yet. Just don’t give up on yourself. 💛 ˗ˏˋ 20/30 ⌓ #30daysofgratitude
Plastic trash in the see is usually international, without borders. Its removal, however, is local. Since there are no other volunteers here, unlike other locations, we try to be more efficient by carrying the smaller items in bags and the bulky items on ropes. Over half a ton of plastic trash every year.

We are quite literally throwing away our oceans and the life inside. Images like these seem like a drastic representation but are truly not. Humans are diminishing marine populations at an incredible rate. Let’s awake to the reality of our world and inspire our peers to help us make a difference!
