AVOCADOS | Choquette, Hass, Lula, Maluma, Bacon, Fuerte...can you guess what these are? They are avocado names!! We love avocado, but how much you know about it other than it’s incredibly good source of healthy fat? 🥑🥑🥑 The avocado is unusual in that the timing of the male and female flower phases differs among cultivars. The two flowering types are A and B. A-cultivar flowers open as female on the morning of the first day and close in late morning or early afternoon. Then they open as male in the afternoon of the second day. B varieties open as female on the afternoon of the first day, close in late afternoon and reopen as male the following morning.
Interesting, isn’t it? Can you guess what kind is the most common cultivar of avocado that we buy? it’s Hass. 🤓🌿🥖🥑💥😋

A plant based diet offers a plethora of multi faceted benefits.
But RIGHT NOW a plant based diet is on the front line of the war on climate change - a war we are losing and a war that we can not as the people, rely on governments and policy makers to fight. -
🤯NOBODY can afford to hide - we all need to stand up and act NOW.
When it comes to the planet's welfare it's easy to feel hopeless and overwhelmed. -
We are not helpless.
Switching to a plant based diet today remains the single biggest action and impact a human can have for the future sustainability of our planet.
Researchers at the University of Oxford found that cutting meat and dairy products from your diet could reduce an individual's carbon footprint from food by up to 73 per cent.
Meanwhile, if everyone stopped eating these foods, they found that global farmland use could be reduced by 75 per cent, an area equivalent to the size of the US, China, Australia and the EU combined. -
Not only would this result in a significant drop in greenhouse gas emissions, it would also free up wild land lost to agriculture, one of the primary causes for mass wildlife extinction.
Lead author Joseph Poore said:
“A vegan diet is probably the single biggest way to reduce your impact on planet Earth, not just greenhouse gases, but global acidification, eutrophication, land use and water use. It is far bigger than cutting down on your flights or buying an electric car,” he explained, which would only reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
“Avoiding consumption of animal products delivers far better environmental benefits than trying to purchase sustainable meat and dairy,” he added.
We are not helpless. Consumers hold the power. Vote with your fork for the future of our planet.

I'm finally back to loving salads again... HORRAY! For a minute there I was nervous I wouldn’t like them for my whole pregnancy. 😩 And I've got a tasty one the blog today --> Fattoush salad with fresh vegetables, herbs, crispy pita bread and a sumac dressing. Great as an appetizer or topped with protein for a meal-sized salad! 🥗💃🏻💯
If you're not familiar, Fattoush salad is a traditional Middle Eastern salad. It’s typically made with fried pieces of flatbread (aka pita), herbs and vegetables (typically radishes cucumbers and tomatoes) all chopped and mixed together AND it's so yummy. .
There's a secret spice in the dressing called sumac that has a tart flavor similar to lemon juice or vinegar. If you haven't tried it before, this salad is a great place to start!! .
Recipe for the salad is linked in my bio --> @eatingbirdfood
