'Angels Fall First' was the first studio album to be released by Nightwish. The CD was released on the 1st November in 1997. It featured essential songs such as 'Elvenpath', the original fan favourite and 'The Carpenter', the first song to ever be released by this new band. The album contained the young vocals of the original lead singer, Tarja Turunen and vocals from the main songwriter, keyboardist and leader, Tuomas Holopainen. Though not everybody was a fan. For instance, 'The Carpenter' actually sold very well, considering it was the least favourite of many Nightwish fans. As it was the first single, it was included on the bands compilation album, 'Decades - An Archive of Song 1996 - 2015', a 20 year celebration for the band, and was also performed on the Decades Tour in 2018, with vocalists Troy Donockley and Floor Jansen. The Decades album included the very best songs from the band we know and love today. The band was missing a few things at the time, such as a bass player, which can be heard very evidentley in the song, 'Astral Romance', which was remade in 2001, with their original bass player, Sämi Vänskä, who can be heard on Nightwish's second album, Oceanborn.
