What an epic journey on the John Muir trail last month with two amazing people I love dearly. I couldn’t imagine the journey any other way than with @mariajoelle and Wes.
What can I say? Life has its ups and downs. Sometimes literally sometimes figuratively. This journey took every ounce of dedication, sweat, sometimes tears-just as life can and does sometimes. Always remember it really is ONE step at a time. Things don’t always go as planned but they turn out more beautiful than anything I could’ve imagined. This 100 mile journey through the woods was plan b that was decided days before our planned hike. We were afraid of multiple snowy patches and being able to complete the journey on time. Turns out we still hit snowy passes, AND hail, lightning, freezing rain, fire from lightning, raging water crossings, smoldering hot days-and I wouldn’t change a bit of it for a second. Mother Nature is so unpredictable-just as life. What I learn from the mountains is to respect change~the most important things are the essentials that will keep me alive~that it is one step at a time even if it looks like a daunting mountain towering way above me~I’m really not in control and I’m more than ok with that today.
I am so humbled by the wild, perfectly right sized and so grateful I can physically still accomplish journeys like this
