Art of the Tactical Handgun // 0500 ⏱ Shoot House // Sport marksmanship shooting is not tactical gunfighting & tactical gunfighting is not sport marksmanship shooting.
In sport shooting you can be static, taking your time to place your shots because no one is shooting back at you. In gunfighting, someone is absolutely shooting back at you, so cover and/or concealment (not the same) become paramount as does movement — if you stop moving in a gunfight, you’re dead.
Drill: 2 x center mass shots from standing, kneeling (both sides), prone — repeat 10 circuits of the above.
Why do daily dry fire drills (shooting with non-live rounds)? For gunfighting, daily dry fire training is the same as daily shadow boxing for Boxers/Muay Thai fighters, or solo drills for Jiu Jitsu practitioners — the goal is to practice gunfighting skills while developing tactical athleticism including the efficient biomechanics of movement, mental focus, nervous system response and breath control to name a few. Ultimately we get good at what we practice and we get NOT good at what we don’t.
