We need to raise a further $1047 and we can share an AMAZING update about Illya. Link to donate in bio!
We have seen our fair share of heartbreaking cases here at Maya’s Hope. It doesn’t get easier seeing children suffer. And it’s even worse when the suffering is caused by those who should be protecting them.
Illya is 3 years old. He was recently removed from the care of his alcoholic grandmother. His mother left him in her care went overseas and did not return. His grandmother did not interact with him or feed him properly. He was found to be unwashed, barely able to walk, unable to speak and afraid of people.
He is now safe and with a guardian who immediately sought treatment for him. She cannot afford his treatment on her own so she reached out to our partner who sent us his case immediately. Of course, we had to say yes to helping this child.
Now we need your help to quickly raise the funds needed for his rehabilitation and treatment. He deserves the chance to recover what was taken from him.
Would like to heartedly show my gratitude to my friend @aneithou__ who participated in one if not the biggest City2surf in the world. He ran 14kg in order to raise money for medicalsuppliesarise. “It’s not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country”
Thank you my friend. The money raised are for a good cause.
One of those moments when you realize that you are a part of more than just a track team. This was the second time that this village received donated clothes from the Los Angeles Jets Track Club. So glad that I was there this time to distribute. #lajets#konkomahvillage#ghana#jetparentsrock#makeadifference
Living on a ship means having to drink bottled water and I know a lot of countries are the same as tap water isn’t safe. The ship do have a strict recycling programme in place when it comes to water bottles however a really simple step like cutting the bottle top ring and putting inside the bottle before you throw it in the recycling bin can make a HUGE difference and can save innocent lives. Please make this part of your recycling routine! Small steps make big change. #cutthering#recycle#savetheanimals#makeadifference#ecoadvice#myecoexperience#fortheplanet🌎
We are, KIDS FEEDING KIDS! 🐭
Today was the Annual MOUSEquerade! I had a blast meeting new people and making friends. 💜 Being a Mouse in training has taught me to be an empathetic human being. We should not take things for granted and be grateful for what we have. 😁 There will always be a kid wishing to have a life like ours. Like a house to stay in or even getting food. 😞 The Kind Mouse mission is to let no hardworking individual starve and gather a new generation of volunteers. 🐭 It is such a privilege to be part of this organization and to help make a difference in the world! 🌎 If I can do it, you can too!
My awesome sister-in-law was in town from NJ. We totally treated ourselves and went for a massage. Heaven! After the massage, they offered us an icy cold bottle of water in single use plastic. I soooo wanted the water, but not the bottle. So I said no with grace saying, “I am trying to reduce plastic in my life.” They got it. I hope they share our encounter with their management. The more of us that do that, the more we change the world. What can you do today? #justsayit#newwavesun#makeadifference#plasticfree#americathebeautiful
The 🧠brain benefits🧠 that go along with meditation are profound and wide-reaching. When we meditate, we give our brain the opportunity to think, feel, and operate in a different way.
For years we thought that the brain we were born with was the brain we’d have for life. But recent research has shown the remarkable ability of our brains to change over time based on our behavior and way of thinking.😌
Meditation allows us to harness the power of neuroplasticity, creating neural pathways that wouldn’t otherwise exist, balancing the brain’s hemispheres and strengthening parts of the brain associated with memory and cognition.
Meditation is a tool that helps us connect not only to ourselves, but to those around us, increasing our empathy, our compassion, and our patience.♥️ When we listen with sensitivity and intent to our own inner voice, we’re better able to hear the voices of others. The connections we form make us feel less lonely, which in turn decreases feelings of anxiety and depression.
So in love with the sequoias.
And so humbling to know these trees live for up to 3,000 years.
For me that means a reminder:
When you have just a sec - in the bigger scheme of things,
you’d better be present for it
and live it as well as you can. 😉✨🍃🌲
What’s ONE change you could implement right away that would bring more joy to your life?
Let me know in the comments. 👇✨☀️
I love eating leftovers the next day instead of throwing the food out, because it means that you are not using up more of the earth’s resources. You also save money on one meal too ☺️.
Leftover lentil curry (see yesterday’s recipe) and salad in a roti (or naan) wrap 😋.
Thank you for this divine food 🙏.
