We almost didn’t get to make the trip we planned to Kansas City this weekend. . The weather was going to keep us from driving, it was a long trip for not much time there, and we just have a bunch to do at the store. . I’m so happy we made it out though. I got to catch up with some TKE buddies, and some old friends from college. . I don’t drink a lot anymore, but that’s just going to happen with these guys. Good to see you all! . Thanks Tanner and @rach_elizabeth3 for having us out, letting us stay with you, and for taking time out of your busy lives to show us around KC. Great weekend!

From my client (shared with permission): We spent some time with our amazing doula Charity with Mahina Birth Support. I can’t even scratch the surface on what a blessing she was during my birth journey with Clover. I had initially planned for an unmedicated birth, but Charity helped me to focus on what kind of birth space I wanted to create instead. T and I told her we wanted our birth space to feel “chill and connected”. Charity then told us whatever we needed to do to honor that space was acceptable at the end of the day. When I had to be induced days after my due date because of low fluids, I felt defeated that my original birth plan was already off track... but Charity continued to be supportive and assured me that everything was happening as it should. She was there bright and early as active labor picked up, and she spent hours coaching T and myself through breathing techniques, meditation, and positive affirmations. After close to 18 hours of labor with little progression, Charity helped to keep me in a positive mental space when decided it was time to get the epidural. Having her in the room when Clover made her debut felt right because at that point she felt like a close friend. It was bittersweet having Charity come by for the final postpartum appointment because she is apart of one of the biggest moments of our lives. No matter what your birth plan is, I stand by the thought that everyone needs a doula. . . #mahinabirthsupport #kansascitydoula #birthdoula #kansascity #kcmo
