The Grand Tetons were nothing short of breathtaking, no surprise there. But we couldn’t help but laugh every time we thought about how the Grand Tetons got their name.
Not only is the story of some incredibly lonely French fur trappers naming the mountains after the one thing they longed for the most just funny, it puts into perspective the sheer vastness of this country.
Early explorers likely spent months in the wilderness fighting storms, illness, wild animals and insects to be rewarded with gems like this. The beauty must have been eye watering at the time, and the name all the more fitting.
