Meet Krusty. She's a fresh catch at @thefishhousedubai

At the Fish House @intercondfc, they serve some of the freshest catch from the sea in a warm, welcoming and casual ambience.
🍯 I’m home 😍
Mischbrot. 2 Euro. Sauerteig von Seitenbacher.
---------
300g Weizenmehl 405, 50g Roggenmehl, 250ml Wasser, 5g Salz, 1/2 pck.

Te animas a prepararlo?

Easter is not complete without chocolate crispy cakes 🍫🍫🍫
Something really interesting happened today when I tried to pan sear this African fork tailed snapper. I had it cut into filets at the market when I bought it. When I went to sear it I placed it skin side up in the pan with hot oil. Everything was fine. When I went to flip it though instead of laying flat like salmon filet would, the snapper curled up and turned sideways in the pan! At first I thought my dish was ruined. Then I decided to take them out, cut them in half and put them back in the pan to see if they would stay flat. It worked! I was able to avoid a potential kitchen disaster and here we are. Pan seared teriyaki African fork tailed snapper with baked potatoes, carrot strips and zucchini which I seared without oil in a frying pan. Then I sautéed onions and tomatoes, added the potatoes, carrots and zucchini gave it a good mix and voilà! Bon Appetit.

Dinner time... eating local and fresh with mackerels, “cavala,” with organic carrots and potatoes, onions, tomatoes and green olives oven roasted in wine. I haven’t been a fan of tomatoes for a long time but all that changed after coming to CV. The tomatoes that I get here are local and organic and delicious! I enjoy eating raw and cooked as you see them here in the pic. Bon Appetit!

Today is my earth day and this is what I wanted to eat, a tuna melt!! It’s probably my favorite sandwich. I made my way to the fish market early this morning to buy fresh tuna to start the process. I went on a great day because I found this beautiful piece of tuna [SWIPE to last pic to see it raw]! Can you believe I only paid $5 for all this fish?? Many Cape Verdeans like to say that CV is a country that has “nothing.” While I understand that their complaint, which is coming from a place of deep frustration, is a valid one, I have to disagree. Besides our people, which is our greatest wealth, we also have an abundant ocean among other things that give this country much value. However, it can only serve the people if it isn’t exploited or sold off by the powers that be. But today we are talking about my sandwich so let’s get to that. I brought the fish home, seasoned and roasted it. Then shred it and added homemade yogurt a “healthy” substitute for mayo that I like to use, white pepper, black pepper, salt and fresh parsley. Then I assembled the sandwich, added Gouda cheese, popped them in the oven then put lettuce and tomato. I’m done being reckless so I had my sandwich with oven roasted potatoes instead of fries. I made a double batch so we can have more tomorrow. Bon Appetit! *

As far as serious food cravings go, this one is kind of unusual but here we are nonetheless. I have been craving “peixe seco” or “dried fish,” which is fish that is salted then left to dry in the sun. Yesterday I made my way over to the fish market and got some. I forgot to ask the lady the name of the fish so I can’t tell you guys. In creole it might be “tabala” or “Esmoregal” (greater amberjack.) I made it with onions sautéed in olive oil, boiled potatoes, and green olives and seasoned with fresh herbs and spices. Bon Appetit!
