The first day of school is upon us and with the hustle and bustle of life these days and the strive for "perfection" we miss details that can change one childs whole outlook on school and life.
Let's just remember a few things to remind our children of on the way out the door... Everyone deserves to have a good day at school.
Everyone deserves that chance to play tag, basketball, hopscotch with peers.
Everyone deserves to sit with someone at lunch time and not be alone.
Everyone deserves not to be laughed at or made of fun when things are out of their control.
Every CHILD deserves to be treated as a child and not a label because everyone is different, embrace those differences you might just learn something new!
You can't always see the diagnoses of someone with autism, who is non verbal, who has ADHD! It's not the teachers job to point it out either, it's our job as parents to teach our children to be kind to everyone, to treat everyone how they would want to be treated.
Its our job as parents to entrust empathy, compassion, love, and understanding into our children so that when they go out into the world, even this young, even on a random Tuesday on the playground. They are good people, that they made someone smile today with a tiny gesture as to sharing a ball on a playground, which might be tiny to them but could mean the world to another friend!! We are raising the future my friends, making the world a better place starts with us!
Let's have a great school year everyone!
Whether tomorrow is your first day or your third week of teaching this year, you might already be experiencing the Sunday Scaries.
What are the Sunday Scaries?
The Sunday Scaries are the anxiety that sets in on Sunday nights with the impending return to school.
We usually get these scaries because we’re feeling overwhelmed for the week ahead.
On the flipside you might have some colleagues who are inexplicably excited to go back to work.
So how do we avoid the Sunday Scaries and actually look forward to the week ahead?
1. Be prepared! The best way to feel good about heading into a new week is to know that your lessons are planned, printed, and all of the materials you need are ready to roll.
2. Commiserate with friends! It’s easier to go back to work when you like the people you work with. But if you don’t belong to a school with a great teaching community, you find supportive communities like the Chalkster community (LINK IN BIO), where you can share your ups, downs, frustrations and celebrations with a group of likeminded educators who want to get better every day!

Are you a #pumpkinspice fan like me? 🙋🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🎃 I might be drinking a Pumpkin Spice coffee as I type this.
I love all things pumpkin but I chucked all of our candles a few years ago when I realized how horrible they were in our home, and around our kids. Did you know the toxins released from typical paraffin candles when burned are the same as the ones found in diesel fuel? That’s a pass for me. 🙅🏼♀️
Luckily doTERRA gets us and has this diffuser and Harvest Spice on sale this month! Both of which can’t be bought any other time of year!
So instead of buying a $25 candle at Bath and Body Works that’s full of junk, grab this diffuser and oil while you can for only $44 - and trust me, it’s going to last a LONG time!
