🐫 Wednesday and we are ready for the weekend ... share with someone who needs to be in these this weekend ...
It feels like sustainability is so 'in' right now. YouTubers are posting thrift hauls, grocery shops are removing plastic from their shelves and 'slow fashion' is trending. But there are currently no laws regarding the use of such vocabulary, and people don't really seem to agree on what 'sustainability' means.
Personally, I gravitate towards 'sustainable' over other words like 'zero waste', 'eco-friendly' or 'plastic free', simply because I believe it conveys all the best parts of those concepts without conveying their absolutism. There is no such thing as a 'zero waste' life, and it's impossible to be completely plastic free. Sustainability in fashion and in life just means that the changes made are perpetually viable - you can switch to a shampoo bar for the rest of your life, but you can't stop taking your medication just because it comes in plastic!
In fashion, 'sustainable' collections like the one from H&M are not really sustainable, as they come from companies which promote fast fashion, produce generally low quality products and do not treat their workers Ethically. Of course I'm glad big companies are taking steps towards sustainability, but it often feels as if those are simply marketing ploys.
What I really mean to say is that none of us are perfect. There is currently some single use plastic in my house, and I still fly home a few times a year and eat fish occasionally. But I am reducing my impact on the planet and its people in a way that is sustainable for me, within my current possibilities and in ways which I can commit to forever. I can only hope that everyone else do the same, and that one day we will live more balanced, sustainable lives.
.Congrats for getting this far if you have! I'm not usually one for long captions 🙈 Please do let me know in the comments what sustainability means to you, even if you disagree with me!

I’m sure you’ve seen the posts, so here’s something you can do besides tweeting. We aren’t saying just quit cold turkey tomorrow because that’s just unrealistic. But we have evidence that shows how meat consumption directly causes climate change. So cut back! Skip the beef and try a vegan alternative. The more you try, the more of a habit it becomes. We all can do our part.
We are all Nature. Where we harm her, we harm ourselves. At TheOne08 we fundamentally value the health and well-being of our planet, and all who inhabit it. We know it's possible to create luxurious products without causing unnecessary harm to the planet.
