When it comes to friends or family, if they are trying to lose weight, it's important that you support them in the right way. What does that mean? Well, it means that you may need to bite your tongue! I hear so many people tell me how excited they are to try keto, or juicing, or whatever other approach they've found - but even though we all know that it won't work long term, I just smile and say I'm excited for them and wish them the best. ⠀⠀⁣⠀

You see, telling them anything else could be hugely discouraging to them and really sideline their progress. You have to be mindful that if someone is changing their body it's typically because they aren't happy with it to begin with. It's a difficult process and often a sensitive time - so telling them they are wrong isn't going to help at all.⠀⠀⁣⠀

Remember - it's their fitness journey and unless they ask for your advice, you don't need to give it. Just because something worked for you in the past doesn't mean it will work for them. Likewise, try not to bring it up very often. If they have an update to fill you in on or a little win they want to share - they'll share it. If you keep bringing it up you can run the risk of adding more pressure to them at ta time when they really don't need it.⠀⠀⁣⠀

I think I’m an okay cook but when I screw up, it’s bad 🙈 put together soya milk, vanilla whey isolate and porridge oats, blasted in the microwave then added some raspberries and white chocolate chips. Looks good 😋 however, the texture got weirder and weirder as I ate ☹️ did I accidentally make tofu? Was it the protein powder? Not sure, but I won’t be putting together this concoction ever again 🤢 1/10, would not recommend. Should have stuck to my avo/poached eggs 🙄😂 Kcals - 408

Have a chiaful snack packed with many health benefits! ✨

What you'll need:
1/2 cup chia seeds
1 cup milk (sub with soy, almond, oat, coconut milk for vegan option)
1 tbsp honey or preferred sweetener
granola (optional)

Instructions:
- In a container, add chia seeds, milk, and sweetener
- Mix well
- Place in refrigerator overnight or at least 6 hours, mix again after if needed
- Enjoy as is or add toppings

Monica is in the local convenience shop. She seeks a palatable beverage. She spots an assortment of bottled drinks and gravitates towards them in the hope of finding something ‘healthy’ for her fat loss goal. Her eyes intensely scroll through the bottles. 7 up - no. Mountain Dew - no. Coca-Cola - fuck no. Innocent orange - n...wait... 100% orange juice that’s innocent? Monica purchases the 500ml bottle and consumes it swiftly. She feels good about herself and begins walking north on the Main Street.

800 yards north in an unpopulated dustbin alley, Peter has just purchased 6 oranges. He looks shifty. He’s wearing a cap. He has a rucksack. He looks over his shoulder and produces a sharp knife. He aggressively removes the oranges from his rucksack and begins mercilessly slicing into them. With juice cascading down his trembling hands he begins emphatically consuming the oranges with tremendous might. -
Ten minutes later, Monica spots an industrial sized bin near an alley. As she lifts the lid on the bin she sees what she described later that day to her friends as; “an orange mouthed man sitting in a beanbag of orange peel”... “Who the fuck eats that many oranges... in an alley” is the judgmental punchline of her tale of visual lunacy.

Yet despite the consummate normality of Monica’s consumption and ridiculous absurdity of Peter’s, they both replicated eachother’s nutrition during those 10 minutes. In fact, Peter consumed more fibre. -

A 500ml bottle of innocent orange juice contains 190 calories, 39g of sugar and is easy to consume in a short time. Six oranges are nutritionally identical. Yet one is normal and the other is a ridiculous proposition that nobody (except hypothetical Peter) dreams of. -

Of course, consumption of the innocent juice or the oranges may fit one’s nutritional goal. But despite appealing labels, clever marketing and my tale above; the message here is to simply be aware of what you are about to consume 🙂. -

mit ca. 47g #Eiweiß pro Portion und ca. 550kcal ist es das perfekte Abendessen an eurem #Trainingstag bei uns 😃 ▪️ 700g Blumenkohl
▪️ 100g Möhren 🥕
▪️ 200g geriebener Gouda 🧀
▪️ 2 Eier 🥚
▪️ 6 EL Mandelmehl
▪️ Salz + 4 TL Öl
▪️ 2 Zwiebeln + 2 Knoblauchzehen
▪️ 250g Rinderhackfleisch
▪️ 4 EL Tomatenmark 🍅
▪️ 1TLgemahlener Kreuzkümmel
▪️ 150ml Gemüsebrühe
▪️ Pfeffer
▪️ halbe Salatgurke 🥒
▪️ 10 Kirschtomaten
▪️ 250g Tsatziki
▪️ handvoll eingelegte schwarze Oliven
▪️ 4 EL gehackte Petersilie ➡️ Backofen auf 180 Grad Umluft vorheizen. Den Blumenkohl in Röschen teilen, Möhren schälen und klein schneiden. Beides portionsweise im Blitzhacker fein mahlen. in einem sauberen Geschirrtuch kräftgi ausdrücken. Den Gouda, Blumenkohl-Mix, Eier und Mehl mischen, mit Salz würzen und fein pürieren. ➡️ Zwei Backbleche mit Backpapier belegen, dünn mit Öl bestreichen, den Teig mit den Händen auf den Blechen zu 4 sehr dünnen Fladen verstreichen. Im Ofen ca. 25-30 Minuten vorbacken. Etwas abkühlen lassen. ➡️ Inzwischen Zwiebeln und Knoblauch schälen, fein würfeln. Mit Hack in einer Pfanne krümelig braten. Tomatenmark und Kreuzkümmel mit anrösten. Die Brühe unterrühren, kurz köcheln lassen, abschmecken. ➡️ Backofentemperatur auf 220 Grad erhöhen. Pizzaböden kurz braun backen. Dann Soße aufsteichen, in 5-7 Minuten fertig backen. ➡️ Gurke waschen, würfeln, Tomaten waschen und vierteln. Pizzas vorm Servieren mit Tsatziki beträufeln, Gurkenwürfel, Tomaten, Oliven und Petersilie darauf verteilen.

Do we really need to supplement?⁠⠀

In an ideal world we wouldn't but in today's society we are constantly exposed to environmental toxins, depleted soils, everyday life stresses, lack of sleep, our energy output is high the list goes on. If you are eating healthy you would think you wouldn’t  need to supplement but in reality, most people do in some shape or form. ⁠⠀

The majority of people are deficient in vitamins, minerals, micronutrients and fatty acids. The vegetables and fruit that are in your fridge right now did not get there overnight. If you think of how long it took to grow them be packaged up and transported perhaps halfway across the world, then to be stored in a warehouse somewhere until ready to be put onto the supermarket shelf and then goes through the sales process and into your fridge. ⁠⠀

But in order for the produce to even reach us and still be edible these days, it is harvested prematurely which doesn't even give a chance for the nutrients to develop. ⁠⠀

Unfortunately with modern agriculture practices is where it all begins and it is getting worse. 
Not only are our soils are depleted pesticides and herbicides are sprayed on the crops that are affecting our entire ecosystem and we are no exception. 
I am telling you this because it’s time to get realistic and honest with what is happening in our world 🌍 ⁠⠀
