It's our month, and we want you to #KnowOurBabies.

Meet precious Calista Eleanor Maragos. Her mama Ashleigh Renouf wrote to us with her story:

When Nick and I found out I was pregnant we were so excited! It would be my first baby and Nick's second. We quickly started planning our future with our baby. I downloaded a pregnancy tracker on my phone and looked up the possible due date- January 12, 2018.. My pregnancy was "normal". I had morning sickness and hated the smell of broccoli. I was exhausted most days and craved cream soda, a drink I haven't had since childhood. As my first trimester ended and we were entering the second trimester we felt safe to start sharing the happy news. We carefully thought out how to post the news on social media. It seems so trivial now but we were excited and naive to any possible complications. I remember us taking picture after picture of the booties with the calendar of the month and date circled. We even had a gender reveal with our family. We were just so excited. So on September 1 we had the gender reveal and found out we'd be having a girl! And on September 4 we posted the happy news on Facebook. Little did we know that our world would come crumbling down less than two weeks later.

At 22 weeks 3 days (September 14, 2017) I started feeling a pain I've never felt before. Something told me to time the pain and it was happening every 5 minutes like clockwork. I knew something was wrong. I met Nick at the hospital and my OB was there that night too so I felt like I was in good hands. They did a quick ultrasound and told me everything looked good. She told me is was probably gas and gave me muscle relaxant. We felt so relieved and went home.

The next day I wasn't feeling well. I felt sick and dizzy. Then the pain came back and I timed it again and sure enough it was every 5 minutes. So I went back to the hospital. 22 weeks 4 days pregnant.

They admitted me that day and decided that they would give me more muscle relaxer as that helped ease the contractions. We were hoping that it would keep Calista in my belly until 23 weeks so she would have a chance to survive. [continued in comments]

Meet precious Laelynn Faith. Her mama Krista Centric wrote to us with her story:

We lost our daughter Laelynn Faith on July 13, 2019. Our story is painful, but full of faith.
My first 4 months of pregnancy should have given me dread. This was my 4th child and I had previously had beautiful pregnancies with minimal ailments, but this pregnancy was different. I had spotting, extreme nausea, significant food aversions and was constantly exhausted. I couldn't gain weight and had a continual feeling of doom... lab work was done with concerns for hyperthyroidism and gestational diabetes, but both ended up resolving. After a normal quick ultrasound at 16 weeks to monitor previous concerns, I finally shoved my concerns aside and made the social media post.

Our 20-week ultrasound was atypical however. The baby anatomy wise looked great- brain, heart, kidneys, arms, legs.... but was extremely small. 16 days behind in growth. I went to maternal fetal medicine for further evaluation and they had the same small findings, but there were concerns with the baby's heart. The next day we did an amniocentesis. As a genetic counselor said, there was a 50/50 chance this was a genetic or chromosomal anomaly. We also went to a fetal cardiologist for further evaluation, who did find a technical diagnosis of congenital heart disease with a thickened right ventricle, but everything else looked ok.

My 23-week MFM appointment was an absolute disaster. Three different individuals - one technician and two physicians - spent hours looking at my daughter. They all came to the same diagnosis. My daughter was dying. Umbilical flow was going away from her, there was fluid around her heart, there was a new hole in her heart and many of her organs were "bright" showing inadequate blood flow to them, and she was now 3 weeks behind in growth. We were told we had three options: termination by D&E, continuing pregnancy until she suffered and died, or continuing pregnancy and (because of her age being "viability" period) all attempts to save her would be made. 🕯 There is no doubt that Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day falls where it does. Right after kids return to school, in the midst of family pictures, and right before the holidays.

Every.Single.Day. a mother and father experience this irreplaceable loss. Don’t wait until until it’s easy to talk about, do or say something to show your support.
.
.
Like some mommies this year, I’ll be lighting a candle in remembrance of a life lost too soon, while feeling kicks of our little rainbow baby hoping with every fiber of my being that this time pregnancy ends with life.

Meet precious Harper Lee.

Her mama, Kayla Horst, wrote to us with Baby H and Harper's stories:

I found out I was pregnant October 2017 with my second baby. I was so shocked because my first was just over a year old and my mind instantly felt scared and excited at the same time. On November 16th, the week before my first doctor's appointment, I felt a gush. I knew that I was miscarrying. The pain was awful. I rushed to the ER and it was confirmed. I felt numb. I didn’t think something like this would happen to me.
In January of 2018 I found out I was pregnant with my rainbow baby. When I had my first ultrasound I was so excited to see my precious baby's heartbeat beating so strong. Every appointment I had so much hope and I was getting more and more excited.

We found out we were having a baby girl (our second) at 15 weeks. We decided to name her Harper Lee. At my 20-week anatomy scan her heart was beating so strong and everything seemed so perfect. The doctor was somewhat concerned with her growth because she was measuring 4 weeks behind but said that she wasn’t too worried about it and that at our next visit we would start talking about a growth study if she was still behind.

My next appointment I’ll remember forever.

I had my oldest daughter with me, and she was getting into everything. I had my glucose test, so I drank the sugary drink and they called me back for my visit. The doctor put the monitor on my belly to listen for her heartbeat. She then got out another one and still couldn’t find her heartbeat. She took me for an ultrasound and a nurse took my daughter to keep her busy. I remember looking at the ultrasound and my sweet girl had passed away. I don’t think I have ever cried so much but I knew I needed to hold myself together for my oldest that was with me.

I got induced that same night, and Harper was delivered on June 30, 2019. We held her as long as we could before the funeral home came to take her. My baby girl is always in my heart and we talk about her daily.

In September 2018 we found out we were pregnant with our next rainbow baby and our due date was June 30, 2019. We knew our girl was looking down on us.

No perder la fe.💞💖🦋🐎☀️
.
Llore a mares..😢
.
. . Me acordaba de mis 28 años y el anuncio :si se desplaza... No vas a volver a caminar!
.
. Y camine y camino...corro y a veces vuelo! 🐎🐎🐎🐎💣👊😉
.
.
Pero un rato más en la camita un feriado no le viene mal a nadie..🙆
.
.
Encima me despiertan con tanto amor... 💖💞#historias 🐈#fe #noperderlafe

Do not lose faith!
.
.
I laugh because I am Alive and I can walk.. After All.
.
Yesterday I saw an inspirational video of a woman who had lost faith in finding a couple since she had had a terrible car accident. As a result her limbs were removed. When I was 28 years old I was lucky to escape with my life in a similar event. Doctors informed that the injury I had was serious...if it moved I would end up being unable to walk forever. A terrible ordeal!! .
. But I walked.. And do walk today I run and I sometimes fly too. 😆 🦋 💖
.
. Anyway on a holiday I can afford spending more time in bed sorrounded by puré love... 🐈💞🙆🤗 #morestories #faith #donotlosehope #love
@capturingmoments65 and us have a beautiful guest.

Butterflies represent the ability to look at life in a carefree, lighthearted way. Maybe you have recently gone through a hard time and have carried a heavy vibration because of it. For the Japanese, a white butterfly represents the souls of the deceased. In Ancient Greece, butterflies represent the psyche or soul.

The beginnings and ends of shadow lie between the light and darkness and may be infinitely diminished and infinitely increased. Shadow is the means by which bodies display their form. The forms of bodies could not be understood in detail but for shadow.

A paradigm is simply a way if looking at a circumstance or at life in general. Some people see the glass of life as half empty. The optimists see it as half full. They interpret the same circumstance differently because they have adopted a different paradigm. A paradigm is basically a lens through which you see the events of your life, both internal and external.
