@jordanshrinks It's the last day of 2016 and I can't help but reflect. At the beginning of this year, I was sitting on my bedroom floor when I finally decided I had to change. I was over 300lbs, I never exercised, and I had an absolutely terrible relationship with food. I would eat and eat and eat. It felt as if I had no control over what I put in my body. I knew something had to be done. My health was deteriorating. I am convinced that my habits would have eventually killed me. I had to relearn how to eat and overcome years of binge eating. I had to learn how to exercise, how to run, and how to take care of my body. Since the beginning of this year I have lost 130lbs. There have been times I wanted to give up. I have wanted to skip workouts and eat terrible food. But I realized early on that if waking up at 5:15am every morning to run is the price I have to pay to never go back to where I was then I will gladly do it. People always ask me how I lost weight. Please remember that I was once you. I once looked at other people's progress and believed it was unattainable. When I started I was fairly certain I would quit. You need to take it day by day. Think of your health, your friends, your family, and your future. Think of how much better you'll feel and how much more you'll be able to do. Eight days from now will mark my one-year fitversary. One year since I stepped in the gym for the first time in my life. One year since I decided that I didn't want to die prematurely or live a life with barriers related to my weight. If I could change, so can you. I know you can. 2016 was my year - let's make 2017 yours. ❤
So much of controlling your diabetes is based on 'anticipating your diabetes'. Over the years I'm sure you've spoken to doctors and nutritionists about doses of insulin to take and times to take them. Learn about YOUR OWN BODY and know how certain foods and activities affect your blood sugar levels. You will always be given a set amount of long lasting insulin and fast asking insulin to take (depending on the food you're eating). These specific amounts may not suit you for a certain day. If you know you're going to be very active, lower your dose. If you're not going to be active, maybe take more? There is so much trial and error with diabetes and it's important you take a mental note of how your bloods change. Anticipate what you will be doing each day or each few hours. Inject accordingly to your activity that day. Some days I might take 12 units in the morning, others I might take 5. Know your body and know how it responds 💭 #diabetes .
