Water tends to be important out in the desert. It was nice to see that the creek beds were holding plenty of water this year. Last year, everything was bone dry. Only got out for the opener today. Saw about 35 total deer but only 2 being bucks. Made a poor stock on one with bad wind ending it. It was a good day in the field and I’m excited to explore this new area some more. Good luck to everyone hunting this weekend. Be safe and shoot straight!

Hello friends! I’ve been MIA for a while, but for good reason...I got engaged!! 🥰💍 I know my posts had been few and far between before this momentous event occurred, but planning a wedding has proven to be quite time consuming, not to mention #stressful. 😅 But I wouldn’t change it for the world! I am beyond excited to marry my best friend, and hopefully I’ll get my act together and start posting more foodie photos soon! 😋
I hope you are all doing well! Sending love your way. 💓

Learning the basics of hunting Whitetail Deer 🦌
November was a crazy month. Tagged along on a few hunts to learn the process and really dive into becoming a hunter. Loved every minute of it! Really enjoyed butchering a doe with Jay, to learn how and where different cuts of meat come from. All of it makes me excited for next year’s season and to pull the trigger myself! Want to obtain my own REAL meat, as I’ve expressed numerous times before.
Fun to compare a B&W photo to color. That orange just pops! Really showcases what we see compared to the deer 😎
#throwback photos from the last hunt I tagged along on. Sister, brother in-law, and his family were tremendous teachers. Learned a ton!
Tag Along Hunt
Joined my sister, brother in-law, and his daughter and dad a few weekends ago. They were on their annual Fort McCoy, Wisconsin whitetail deer hunt. I tagged along to see what their process is like and pick their brains about hunting overall, with me being new to it all. Just like everyone I’ve talked to, it’s all about respect for the animal and nature overall. Waiting for the right quick and clean shot over just filling a tag. Yes, there is some blood and guts involved (don’t scroll right if ya don’t like that) but that’s no biggy knowing you have obtained some of the tastiest meat on the planet 🦌
I learned a ton and I’m very excited to become a hunter myself. I’d rather obtain my own food instead of all the shit that goes into buying it these days. So much waste 😥 But! I’m going to eliminate a ton of that waste by simply hunting and butchering everything myself. True field to table 🤘

Hunting for the right fuel source 🦄
Past few weekends, I’ve been out in the woods hunting Whitetail Deer 🦌 New to hunting, I’m learning all about the process of obtaining and butchering my own all natural tasty meat. During those cold snowy days, I needed a snack that can keep me fueled up, focused, and providing a long slow burning energy. Sugary snacks always give me a spike and crash. Making my hands and toes struggle to stay warm. So out with the sugary crap and in with the fats!
Plus, the wrapper does not make any crinkling sound when eating it 🙌 Might sound minor, but when you’re mid snack and something comes in the line of sight, the last thing I want is dang wrapper to spook em off 👻
Bonus: @phatfudge is having a huge sale! Pop over to their profile to see more about the deals 🙃

The waiting game 🦌
Brother in law waiting for his next opportunity to strike. Such an awesome time tagging along on last weekend’s hunt. Learned a ton more about hunting and outlook hunters have. Working on the write-up now 🤙

I love it when a plan comes together! After about 45 min in my stand Saturday morning this big guy walked out and gave me a perfect shot. By far the biggest deer I've ever harvested! Definitely a day I'll never forget! #deeropener#openingmorning#buck#deer
