Happy #TherapyThursday! Today we're featuring a helpful technique to ease anxiety, box breathing! Picture a box in front of you. As you move up the side of the box, take a deep breath in for 4 seconds. Next as you move along the top of the box, hold your breath for 4 seconds. Then as you move down the other side of the box, breath out for 4 seconds, and finally as you run along the bottom of the box hold for 4 seconds. Repeat. What are your go to techniques for when #anxiety strikes?
Literally right there, under your nose. 👃🏼 But so many of us forget to breathe 😦
Now we aren’t talking normal, shallow breathing. We are talking about deep, mindful inhales and exhales. 🌬
Stop for a few moments, feel where your mind & body are at and just breathe. In through the nose, out through the mouth. Didn’t that feel nice? 🥰
So, what exactly ARE the benefits of deep or belly breathing to your health and well-being?
* Higher and more sustained levels of energy
* Lower stress and anxiety levels
* Better athletic performance
* A higher sense of emotional and physical awareness
* Mental clarity that brings you into the now
* Stronger relationships from clear reasoning
* Lower risk of chronic disease
Pretty amazing, right? The human body is simply spectacular!
Oh boy, the focus we give to food is staggering.🙃
“I really shouldn’t have that piece of cake.“ 🍰 *
“ I’ll have to exercise five hours to work off those calories.” 😆😆
No wonder our digestion is off. 🤦🏽♀️
I am practicing simply enjoying whatever I “choose” to eat...and that is all.💥
I affirm that “My food digests easily and effortlessly.”
How do you manage the food thoughts in your head? #ItStartsWithMe
Breathing techniques and meditation practices!!!! Another amazing day yesterday training with @jaynenicholls on breath practice and meditation.
With so much pressure and anxiety it made me think about our kids and how we can give them easy tools to achieve a calm mindful breath.
All our kids at Young Yoga from age 4 through to teens are taught this easy method.
Here’s Martha teaching us all how to finger breathe.
It really works!!! Try it xx 🌸🧘♀️🌼 1. Spread your hand and stretch your fingers out like a star. You can choose your left hand or your right hand. You you are going to focus on tracing around the outline of your hand and fingers.
Start at the bottom of your thumb and slide your finger up your thumb, pause at the top, and then slide your finger down the other side. Now slide your pointer up your second finger, pause, and slide down the other side. Continue tracing your fingers up, pause, and down. Slide your finger slowly, watch your finger move and notice how it feels. Keep going until you have finished tracing your fifth finger (pinky). 2. Now you are ready to add some breathing. Breathe in through your nose and breathe out through your mouth. Remember to keep it slow and steady.
Place your pointer finger at the bottom of your thumb, and breathe in as you slide up. Breathe out as you slide down. Breathe in as you slide up your second finger, and breathe out as you slide down.
3. Keep going until you have finished tracing your fingers and you have taken five slow breaths.
4. How does your body feel now? Do you feel calm or would you like to take another five?
I love you. Ok?be safe and remember to breath .someone one time told me that breath is our best freinds and it's the truth .in through the mouth out through the nose .you got this I'm proud of you .you may have fell but you have not sunk .its painful sometimes to keep going but it sure as heck is worth it . #anxiteyawerness#mentalhealthrecovery#quotes#copingskills#deepbreathing
I have never heard someone undersell #Meditation. The benefits to list range from the 100s to potentially the 1000s so I won’t put them all here. 😂 But I will share that no matter what it is that you are doing in life, except maybe trying to become less happy 😂, meditation can help you. The ability to focus is among the key skills in creating the reality you desire. As is breathing, not to mention the affect that #DeepBreathing has on happiness levels. As is state control. The ability to #CHOOSE what mood you are in. The list goes on and on. And you don’t have to be a monk or sit in #LotusPosition to do it. All you need to do is sit up straight, close your eyes, breath deeply and rhythmatically and watch the magic happen. It even helps with your #Posture, #Confidence, #Charisma and overall #Attractiveness. All it takes is a few minutes to begin and if done properly you will see #Immediate#Results.#Love 🖤💙 #DiaphragmaticBreathing#Happiness#Fun#Presence#Life#Fulfillment#RightNow

Stress is a natural occurrence in every day life such as work stress, family stress, relationship stress, not enough time to yourself...No one likes a bad day.
Some changes you can make starting today that help you relieving stress without taking pills. Instead of spending your day miserable, here are some natural tips for dealing with stress: 📌 Find your stress source- It’s the first step you can really do something about it.
📌Take brain breaks-deep breaths- Simply breathe in through your nose for a count of 4, hold your breath while you count to 7, and exhale through your mouth for 8 counts. Repeat 5 – 10x, or until you feel noticeably calmer.
📌 Supplement magnesium- Magnesium is known as the relaxation mineral.
📌Smile - It’s a sort of Pavlovian trick, where your body is so used to associating a smile with feelings of happiness that when it perceives a smile, it generates feelings of happiness. 📌 Listen to relaxing music
📌 Sing loudly 📌 Spend more time in nature 📌 Challenge your thought with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
We can’t always control sources of stress in our lives but we can change how we react them. Just try and see changes in your life! 📎Should our aim be to avoid any and all sorts of stress? Of course not! Some types of stress are useful and considered “adaptive,” we have to be aware of maladaptives. ❓What is your favourite way to deal with stress❓ #stress#stressrelief#stressmanagement#relievingstress#stressfree#stressless#dealwithstress#stresstips#takeabreak#deepbreathing#nature#walkout#singloud#jazz#music#breakup#brainbreaks#meditation#yoga#mindfullness#cognitivebehavioraltherapy#uncontrollablestress#magnesium#smile#stresssourceandtherapy#therapist#cbttherapist#psychonlinetherapy
