I saw this at my kid’s school today and it reminded me of how much we all just want to belong.
How many times over your lifetime have you felt excluded?
How many times have you excluded someone in an attempt to be included?
How many times have you been ignored?
Listen, I’m not chastising or judging. I’ve been left out and have felt crushed. I’ve also excluded people and have felt shitty.
I’m not suggesting that we need to be friends with everyone but I am suggesting that keeping the circle open, being kind and inclusive are powerful means of connecting and belonging.
I’m glad that they’re teaching that at my kid’s school.
I love this strategy for the logistical ease in every day #reallife.
So often I get the reports of “He's fine until I walk away.” “She wants me to play with her constantly. I can’t get anything done.” This strategy helps with that! You can use it when you sit and play with your child and you can play it when you need to do something else.
Often, adults show interest in children’s activities by asking questions. Which, can honestly, annoy kids. They have to try and stop their current task, remember what they’re doing, think of words, and answer our questions. Ever have someone ask you questions while you’re concentrating? For me, my brain short wires and I get snippy.
It’s so much more powerful to “notice” what your child is doing. It builds their self-awareness (“Oh yeah, I did put the orange one on top”). It also builds vocabulary because they’re hearing the words while they’re interacting with their environment, so their brain is more likely to connect the information.
They also feel seen, heard, understood, valued. “Oh! Mommy/Daddy care that I’m building. They’re watching me and care about me.” If you’re trying out the Narrator/Sportscaster strategies today, drop 💗 below!

My childhood home was originally my grandfather’s creation. A large beautiful white farmhouse with a tin roof located in ENC. Some of my earliest experiences with warmth, comfort, and trance came from the building of an evening fire. My grandma’s interactions with the fire was an intuitive marvel! Well in my eyes at least, you see she was raised with fire as her main source of heat. She learned to cook on a stove heated by wood, and no settings. Fire would also heat the water used for bathing, prepare a sterile environment for house keeping, and be a key element in the curing of meat to carry them throughout the winter. By the time I was born we had 2-3 gas heaters that were our backups.....a rare occurrence if we needed to heat other parts of the house. I learned to chop wood, carry water, build a fire, heat a wash pot, among many other life skills. I also learned the value of fire and the mindfulness of resources. My family wasn’t wasteful, nature wasn’t taken for granted, a healthy respect and responsibly for Creator’s provisions was at the forefront of the minds and hearts of my elders. You see an evening fire was a priceless gift, it heated our home, it warmed our hard working bodies, soothed our souls, provided light, and the magic of this consciousness called fire graced us as medicine. Fire is music! It sings, hums, pops, and roars! It dances around and it is an intelligence all unto itself. Fire’s wisdom has the capability to transmute the heaviness of a day. Thank you fire beings, thank you standing tall ones, thank you ancestors, thank you Divine! ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️

Not simply for merriment,
the hell of the shallow
the retention pond of interaction.
I want depth,
the choking salt of the ocean,
the even push and pull of tide.
I returned home to Toomelah for the first time in 3 years, I’ve had to come back for an uncle’s funeral.
So good to reconnect with family, pay my respect to my uncle and reflect on where the first 12 years of my life was spent.
Something I always wanted to do, was to speak to my community (family) about my journey and remind them that I started in the same place as them.
I spoke to the secondary students, about getting out of their comfort zone, dreaming big and surrounding themselves with positive people and role models.

Burnout is feeling overwhelmed and exhausted by everything you have to do and yet still feeling like you’re not doing enough.
Burnout completely affects sexual health and desire. I hear it all the time. We usually don’t call it burnout though. We usually say we just need to be trying harder. Or wish we were better. Or had more energy.
Emily and Amelia talk about 4 areas that help reduce burnout ... .
1. Physical activity
3. Creative self expression
Give yourself permission to take a break from the things that are causing you stress. Turn towards the stress with kindness and compassion. The cure for burnout is not self care. It’s all of us caring for each other. We are not meant to do big things alone.
To listen to their 20 min message see link in bio. It’s the best thing you’ll watch all day. Trust me. It could literally save your life.

. “When a woman awakens and starts to own all of herself, letting go of the need to cover up or defend herself and instead accepts all of her idiosyncrasies, fears, wounds, false programs, flaws, icky moods, fat thighs, sweaty armpits etc and supports her unique imperfect self instead of judging, rejecting and wishing that she were different or like somebody else, she has entered the promised land of freedom and self empowerment.
She starts to drop the posing, defense mechanisms, competitiveness, jealousy and all the false gods that she previously used as crutches, false images or places to hide parts of herself.
What is left is a woman of strength, courage, fortitude and a woman that is compassionately understanding towards others because she is able to give to others what she has given to herself.
She becomes fearlessly authentic, she finds her voice, there is no longer shame, therefore she no longer needs to hide or change any part of herself.
She's able to overcome any fears of rejection for being true to herself.
Ironically, when a woman claims and accepts her shadow, that which she rejected and suppressed about herself transforms from being dysfunctional to being a strength and the energy that it was previously draining from her becomes available to her. Such a woman gives others permission to accept themselves as they are, her own freedom becomes contagious.
Through being openly relaxed in her power she empowers others.” ~ ~ Caroline deLisser
