@kyleruth_ttt shared this in his story the other day (yesterday, I think) and it resonated...but more from a leadership standpoint vs training
With the @themariettamarlins senior group, we discussed the synonymous nature of leadership and character. This above list was not mentioned to the kids, yet their responses to defining leadership and character, in their own words, allowed these 3 “meaningful ways” to stick out.
1) Seek a Challenge -> when training is monotonous, the leader finds something specific to work on within the setting vs complaining and bringing the environment “down”
-> when in life, the leader seeks the challenge of character politeness and responsibilities to drive the team culture
2) Training w/ Others for a Common Purpose -> the goal of this group is to get several Olympic Trial cuts for the TEAM. The leader assists in maintaining focus to keep the setting purpose-driven, while still having fun
3) Helping to Guide Other’s Journey -> the leader encourages others to actively seek challenges within the training realm. When sets become perceptively boring, the leader thrives by asking questions to others: “What’s your focus here?” “How’s your streamline?” “What is your goal for stroke count/time/breathing/etc.?”
-> this group thrives on helping guide others with assistance in character development. To get selfish, simple acknowledgment and the desire for OTHERS to excel can drive performance vs wishing failure upon others
Enhance basic leadership quality -> Enjoy leading -> Enjoy training -> Excel
All of this is quite applicable to the coaching realm, however, that will come on a different day as that is a long post, too.

Oh snap! 9:27/mile! Not gonna lie, this gets me all jacked up🤪😆🙏🏼🏃🏻♀️ Been working on breaking past the 10min/mile mark for about 2 weeks now (more details on my insta story). Today, I accomplished that goal and then some! End goal is to get to my average pace of 8:30/mile which is what I was pacing before my knee injury 3 years ago.
When you set a goal for yourself, the most important thing to do is be patient. Have compassion for yourself and know that whatever you’re wanting to accomplish is going to take time and consistent effort.
I’m learning a lot about myself through this process of goal setting. I used to get SO overwhelmed with the end goal which would push me to the point of giving up entirely.
Now, I focus on setting small, manageable goals each day that will bring me closer to the bigger end goal.
Be kind to yourself and know that any goal worth achieving takes time.
What are some of your goals you’re wanting to accomplish?

Hello Ghana 🇬🇭 tell me how you’re doing? Ghana Cedis confirm 🎶
Took some time off to visit Accra, for a short break before summer ends..
Ghana is so beautiful.. I remember when Nigerians used to be so dismissive.... You would hear things like ‘the whole of Ghana is not up to Lagos’ but now Ghana has so left us...
Google's first artificial intelligence lab in Africa has opened in Ghana among so many feats too numerous to count..
Thank God I have Ghanaian cousins, just in case .
