Baby, it's cold outside, so layer up!
I loved the process of making this cute little piece, and here it is ft. Honey, my brother. This painting's small, 8"×5", and she took about 2-3 days to do.
The thing with impasto is although it's swift to do a single layer, it takes up to 24 hours for a layer to dry before you can go back over it without making it muddy. NOBODY told me that would be the case with something like this, but honestly, I'm quite okay with learning by trial and error.
Unlike my sunflowers painting, this isn't inspired by real life, I just really like to think of this as a small part of a thicket of dahlias, or peonies, or anything else. These don't follow any set guidelines of how real flowers look, making it one of the most abstract things I've ever made.
