Pont des arts, by far my favorite bridge in all Paris and pretty much in the world. It has such a beautiful view of the institut des arts on one side -a building from 1670!- and the louvre on the other -built since the middle ages!- just think how many people have crossed, how many people have made a pause in the middle just to think about someone, or cried or kissed or held hands. maybe that explains why someone once put a love lock with a message and then hundreds more and then hundreds of thousands and so on.
And aside from the view on the sides and a bit of notre dame and the siene, it’s the vibe of the old wood cracking as you step as if it was demanding you to be aware that you are stepping on history. far more old than the french revolution that lead to democratic systems. and in that big perspective, whatever love story or broken love story you have, it’s just a tiny moment in history #bnw#bridges#bridgeporn#pontdesarts#blackandwhite_photos#blackandwhite#paris#travel
I love this pyramid by I.M. Pei at the louvre. it, such a contrast and at the same time so part of ir. as if it had always been there. maybe it had, and pei just materialized it. If you think about it, the goal was quite a challenge. on one hand you have to create a new entrance to the museum but at the same time something that will not obstruct the view of the beautiful ancient building surrounding the patio. Pei not only achieved it, it’s now impossible to imagine this patio without the pyramid, and it’s recognizable worldwide #architecture#impei#pei#bnw#louvre#paris#parisatnight#parisattractions#france#blackandwhite_photos#blackandwhite#fujix#fujixseries
