❤️Keeping Love Alive | “Exciting Activities for Couples Exercise”. .
. ❤️Goal: To increase joy and connection in your relationship. .
About the exercise: Life can get super busy and monotonous. Making sure we nurture our relationships is critical for our wellbeing. Benefits of positive relationships point to better physical health and a longer life span, better mental health (especially when it comes to depression) and better cognitive functioning compared to those who are lonely. 🦋🦋🦋
Exercise: This is a science backed tool to help people reconnect with themselves and their partner.
When you do an exciting activity with your partner you may associate positive emotions that come with the experience with that person which makes the relationship more fun. .
Science that it works: In several studies couples who engaged in this experiment felt less bored in their relationship and rated their relationships as higher quality compared to couples who engaged in more mundane activities.
1. Make a list of things you both would like to do that you’ve never done before taking cost and time into account and what’s realistic. Perhaps a road trip, trying a new restaurant, dance classes, skydiving, take your partner on a picnic. .
2. Meet for at least 90 minutes once a week and do a new activity together for at least 4 weeks. Try to be as mindful and fully immersed in the activity as possible, engaging all of your senses and returning to the present moment when your mind wanders. .
3. Journal about it. (Optional) Journaling is proven to help us reconnect with experiences and process it in a different way so perhaps you might like to journal about your adventures
What are some fun ideas you can think of to try with someone special to you? 💋

The #fightingptsdvicpol campaign received this message from Warren during the week which I would like to share. "This is probably going to sound a little unusual but it’s coming from my heart so here goes. I’m not a cop. I don’t know any cops. I certainly have no friends who are or have been cops. My experience with them has always been an us and them attitude. After reading these posts on this page I realised that they are human too. They have the same reactions to things as we all do. I know PTSD as I too see a psychologist and am trying to get through my issues. I think a wall crumbled for me. After reading your posts I no longer see the police as someone to be avoided but as a real person who has to deal with his or her choices and with the stresses of the job. With PTSD it’s a constant battle. It is so easy to just give up and not fight anymore. This we must stop. From my heart I say to families of police members suffering from anxiety and depression please help them to help themselves by seeking professional help. It doesn’t undermine your cop image. It shows your intelligence and bravery to be proactive in your own mental health management. I’d be the last one to try and give a cop advice but I can say that if we don’t all stand together on issues like this then we are going to loose some good people on all sides. You don’t have to be strong and on top of everything as no one can do that anyway. Seek help. That’s the only wisdom I can share." Also during the week my good friends at the Code 9 foundation had a great post in relation to Apps used to help with techniques to help you get back on track, with permission here are some screens shots of members apps that can be used.. Well that's the last full weekend of Winter and the #fightingptsdvicpol campaign can't wait for Spring to blossom.
Our mornings are still a tad frosty but the afternoon light just keeps staying around a little longer.
Hopefully everyone got out over the weekend and enjoyed the company of family and friends.
Again myself and our #fightingptsdvicpol ambassadors and friends got out and about to help raise awareness for PTSD and mental health issues for our Victoria Police members and retired veterans.
We had our Ambassador Alexis Daish from channel 9 news and USA correspondent training for the New York Marathon. "26km ✔️ ☀️ 🇺🇸 At the 20km mark around Marina del Rey, a guy cycling towards me gave me a massive high five... my feet hurt so much I wanted to cry. Thank you stranger for the good vibes and I’m really sorry arthritis and plantar fasciitis tootsies... after New York, I promise to leave you alone!🦶😫 @protectingtheprotectors@nycmarathon#fightingptsdvicpol"
We had Kellie "getting the k’s in whilst on a conference at the Gold Coast 🏃♀️" and Sara "Doing her thing and getting out in Alice Springs"
I also got out and am just about to hit my 100km pledge for the month of August for the AYB runners Virtual reality event.
It has been a big week for our members and thank you for your support and kind words.
If anyone needs assistance please utilise the contact number on our website www.protectingtheprotectors.com
To date our campaign has raised over $69,414.29 and these donations are being held in the Blue ribbon mental health fund and will assist to the Blue ribbon foundation to continue its valuable work with proceeds to support the WHY (We Hear You) program for mental health services and initiatives for those who are or have served
I’ve decided to start handstanding for a reason 💖
You all know Suicide is close to my heart, so I’ve decided to start handstanding for Suicide awareness.
Because sometimes the world can feel like it’s upside down. I want to raise awareness that this is so real and affecting more people then we realise. Let’s talk more, let’s support each other more, let’s make this topic so talked about that people aren’t afraid of sharing where their at.
Nothing like a 200km ride on a Sunday afternoon, even if it was only between 8 and 12°C and drizzled half the ride. I've had many people say things like "why would you choose to ride a bike when it's cold and rainy" and the fact is, it may not make sense to a lot of people but to me, it's not just a hobby, a passion or something I enjoy. When I ride, whether it's for 10 minutes or 10 hours, for that time I'm on the bike, it's like nothing else matters, all my problems, all the things on my mind, anything that's getting to me just disappear and it's just me, the bike and the road I'm on. Even if it is crappy weather and cold, windy and even rainy, I could be freazing my arse off with sore hands from the cold, a numb face from the icy wind and shivering whenever I stop, none of that matters in that moment, riding is MY THERAPY. For anyone whose struggling or going trough a rough time, it's important that you find something that interests you, something you enjoy, even if it's something you haven't done for a while and don't just try but force yourself to make time for it. Even if that means you don't get to do something someone else wants you to do at that time, if it helps you feel better, if it empowers you to push past negative feelings and thoughts, even just for a day. Even if someone tells you you're being selfish because of it, SO BE IT! When it comes to our mental health, we all need to put ourselves first. Some people aren't going to understand and some people may even ridicule you for it, what they think or say does not matter. JUST DO YOU! And be proud of any steps you take to reconnect with yourself an any way.

The last time I deactivated IG, it was after I was contacted & received this email. Gave me a lot of thought. I’d never heard of such a thing, a Royal Commission into Mental Health? How come I never knew it existed? Well it turns out, because it didn’t exist. This is the first of its kind. Blessed to have been asked to share my story, saddened that it needs to be shared, enlightened to know that it may help change the system & save lives.. Remember, ‘Making moves’ doesn’t always have to be financial gains. Never feel embarrassed or ashamed. Speak up when you want to. Share your story. Seek help. Heal yourself. Take care of you & always know that someone out there may need your words. 🌱🌻💜
Miss you a milli my best friend🌹 #1DN2D
The Athletics Carnival 2019 is not just about the fabulous track and field events - we also have a focus on providing opportunities to fundraise money for Non for Profit Organisations. The Year 12 PDS VCAL students are running a number of stalls tomorrow - Monday 26th to raise funds for both the RSPAC and BeyondBlue. Bring along some money to be involved in this fantastic event! The stalls are offering a range of yummy treats which can be purchased individually or in a package deal! BAG a BARGIN with this brilliant $5 deal - sausage, drink, selection from the cake/cookie stall and either a House colour hairspray/face paint or a guess in the ‘guess the number of lollies in the jar’ competition. They are looking for donations of any old blankets or towels, newspapers, pet toys or pet food for the RSPCA. Please drop this at the collection point outside the front of the office. The VCAL students have invested time into this project and really need your support - so bring along some money to contribute to this necessary donation for the community. 😇🧁🤩 #vcal#fundraisingevent#supportingthecommunity#rspca#beyondblue
