#minireview Situated in the Jordaan, one of the most lively and very touristy neighbourhoods of Amsterdam. But make no mistake, this charming little Italian restaurant is anything but a tourist trap. La Maschera is run by Frederico Galli ( @fredgalli) and Marco Lupi ( @marco.lupi.rm, chef). On the menu are traditional dishes from Umbria and Tuscany, including an Umbrian-style Panzanella salad with buffalo mozzarella (€12, photo 3) and “Tonno del Chianti”, slow-cooked pork shoulder, cured overnight, then cooked in white wine, and finally marinated in extra virgine olive oil (€23, photo 2), or homemade tagliolini with clams, shrimps and mussels (€18, photo 1). Three well-executed dishes with authentic flavours. Good honest cooking. Service was welcoming and friendly. The Italian wine list was compact, reasonably priced, but it’s not the strongest point of this restaurant, even if it includes some of self-imported wines.
