may feel like one of the following:
a juicy nap
natural full body high
a far out trip where your mind marinades in the twilight zone—that starry space that you linger in for just a moment before falling asleep or waking up. if you’re waking up to an alarm or falling asleep with something in your system, chances are you’re not even experiencing the restorative brain wave state of alpha waves.
YN is a way to extend the amount of time spent in these crucial brain wave states (alpha, theta, delta) while keeping a part of your mind aware of the experience.
Yin Yoga is like the prep work. we first work through tensions and blockages on the physical, emotional, and mental planes to slow down the mind and create space in the body. prep work to become receptive when we lie down in stillness and receive the benefits of a yogic sleep—an extended guided journey in the most beneficial asana pose of all: Corpse Pose. Savasana. a little death.
the practice of YN entails different techniques to get you “there”, to that restorative state that is beyond the wakeful, analytical-thinker mind and touches the deeper layers of the receptive, reprogrammable, subconscious mind.
with practice, your body learns how to drop in faster as you continue to explore the inner layers of the body-mind from the seat of The Observer. receive information, answers, inspiration, insight, without effort (thinking). less thinking, more perceiving. less reacting, more observing. less doing, more being.
true rest of all the systems without any inputs from the external world 📵
you can get there all on your own, and it doesn’t require experience enhancers or anything outside of you (though I have nothing against an intentional use of those either 👾). ...explore your doors with yours truly every Sunday night.
BY ALDOUS HUXLEY..
In A Brave New World, the society is divided into Alphas, Betas, Gammas, Deltas, and Epsilons (Alphas the uppermost caste and Epsilons the lowest caste). The concepts of God, religion, languages, family, and parents have been discarded ages ago. People are produced through highly-mechanised cloning process, and brought up using subliminal conditioning per their caste. Due to which no one ever feels discriminated. In this society, everyone is happy, and being unhappy or showing signs of it can lead to punishment and penalties. 🚁
What's the point of a dystopia if it doesn't make outlandish feel real. In A Brave New World, Aldous Huxley has crafted a fascinating future where the society is blithely content without an inkling of passion or pain. The story has all the key elements of a dystopian novel - a futuristic perfect society operated through advanced technology, totalitarian control, and the rebels challenging the status quo. Yet, I wasn't floored by it to the extent I was by 1984 and The Handmaid's Tale. 🚁
But that doesn't mean the book is unreadable. This is important literature one must read. Read this book keeping the expectations built by Orwell and Atwood aside. I have to give full credit to Huxley's imagination of the technology in the world he created. And then to pack this atom bomb of a story in such few pages just goes to show his genius.🚁
Side note: I coupled my reading with the audiobook narrated by British actor Michael York which amplified my entire experience. York's narration is so crackling and amazing that despite my apprehensions, I could not put down the book. 🚁
Interesting fact: George Orwell was Aldous Huxley's student at Cambridge University.
