A little trap/shoulder work
My family has slowly come around to the idea that strongman is the hobby, lifestyle and exercise program that best suits me. It’s helped me drop the notion that being skinnier or weighing less is what getting healthier looks like. Being capable of lifting heavy objects, pulling large vehicles, and running short distances has put my body to good use, and it’s given me more confidence than I ever imagined. High school and my early days in college would have been very different, had I known this training would be available to me.
350 pounds feels real good to me, and although it has its little setbacks, there’s nothing that working on diet and sweating won’t fix!

1st day of school in the books! Always a little bittersweet, but more of a routine has it's upsides, so we'll take the good with the bad (ask me in a week when I'm tired of going through backpacks and running all over town😬) But with beautiful weather and the day off, it's off to a good start. Anyway, the other day a friend and I were talking about how underrated the Banana Split Blizzard is, so I decided to try my hand at a protein version🍦
-1 cup water
-1/2 frozen banana -1 Scoop @pescience Cake Pop protein
-Couple drops of almond extract
-dash of sea salt
-1/4 tsp xanthan gum (I buy @nowfoodsofficial on Amazon)
-2 cups ice
Blend it until thick and fluffy. Now the best part! I topped mine @flavoredpbco Caramel Crunch PB powder, more sea salt, half of a chopped up Banana @imbuilt bar🍌🍫, and Tasty Shakes Berry Cherry topping (basically the sweet version of @kernelseasons powder) Loving these lately!🍓 Happy Thursday friends💕 •

Let’s talk about over training. The picture when you swipe right is literally in April.... 4 MONTHS AGO!!!! I used to work out legs and glutes 4x a week back then! I really had no clue what I was doing 🤦🏽‍♂️ I work out legs ONLY TWICE A WEEK NOW!! I’m not saying that everyone’s body is the same. You might be making your progress from training your legs a lot but the truth is we really need to allow our muscles to heal before we train them again. If they do not heal, how will they grow??? I didn’t used to do that, hence I barely made any progress. Sometimes you need to remember, less is more🤷🏽‍♀️ ESPECIALLY when you’re focusing on progressive overload
So what does a full day of eating look like for me at the moment?

Well not quite like this but tomorrow I'm off to Bristol to work in my sister office for the day as there's a summer party in the evening 💃. So wanting to take a full 24hrs worth of food... Save the spending! So meant needing to get plenty of food in for the day and the train home 😂

❌ Why did it happen? I saw food as “good” or “bad”. I was winning if I was eating “healthy” and I lost if I ate anything that was “unhealthy”.⁣⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⁣⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚽ So let’s use football as an example. A loss is a loss no matter if you lost by 1-0 or  9-0. That was how I saw my nutrition. If I ate anything that was 'unhealthy', I would immediately be able to justify a massive binge.⁣⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⁣⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✅ But everything changed when I realized that foods are not inherently “good” or “bad”. Some foods just provide more health benefits (micronutrients) than others and some are a hell of a lot easier to overeat (highly palatable/calorically dense) than others.⁣⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⁣⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I used to get to the end of the day with my will power all gone, then binge and consume 3-5k calories in one sitting⁣⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⁣⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now I'm proactive with my cravings. Having the same “healthy” meals you see, but not being scared to have a cookie, some sweets, or ice cream if I was truly craving it. ⁣⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⁣⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This lead to me not having these bingeing episodes and thus staying on track.⁣⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Eating mostly “healthy” with some sprinkling in (no pun intended) of those foods to proactively tackle cravings. ⁣⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🤓 When it comes to calories, alcohol has 7 calories per 1 gram as opposed to fat which has 9 and your carbs and protein containing 4.

👉🏻 To track alcohol, you need to allocate these calories to carbs and/or fats. Meaning if you’re tracking it as a carb take the total amount of calories in your alcoholic beverage and divide by 4 (and 9 for fat). COUNT YOUR MIXER FIRST.

My go to is champagne or wine and vodka soda and no I don’t count anything personally the more educated you are the easier it is to “diet”.
