LADY•LIBERTY// When the NHL introduced third jerseys in 1996, team’s experimented with non-traditional designs that were almost universally hated. Of course nowadays, these jerseys are considered holy grails in the collector community. The @nyrangers liberty jersey wasn’t an out-of-the-box design. It had clean diagonal stripes, a sharp logo and stayed fairly consistent to the Rangers primary jerseys with the vertically arched name and drop shadows. This was their third jersey for over 10 years, which included a white version in 1998, a jersey that’s one of my all-time favourites. During this 10 year period, they changed the size of the names, the number of outlines around them, and the thickness of those outlines. It takes some research if you want the customization to be consistent with a certain season, because they weren’t all the same! As nice as it is to have consistency with fonts, it’s always fun doing that research and tracking down info on a 20 year old jersey.
